?Chapter 1517:
“Whether you live or die has nothing to do with me. Emotional ckmail doesn’t work on me,” she replied icily.
“I’m not ckmailing you, I just…” Brendon stammered, his words tumbling over each other, his tone cracking with desperation. “I just want you to change your mind, Christina. Please… let’s start over.”
The alcohol in his veins amplified his panic, stripping away what little pride he had left.
“Impossible. Forget that idea for good. I’m never going back to you,” Christina stated coldly.
Without another nce, she slid into her car. The engine roared to life, and as the headlights red, she pressed on the elerator.
Brendon flinched, stumbling back instinctively as the car shot past him, his heart hammering in his chest.
When he caught his breath, he shouted after her, his voice hoarse and raw. “Christina! I won’t give up! I’ll make you change your mind! I’ll make you take me back!”
His drunken cries echoed through the night, oblivious to the pair of eyes watching from the shadows—eyes burning with pain and hatred.
In a nearby car, Ynda sat behind the wheel, her vision blurring with tears as her heart clenched violently.
Love and hatred warred inside her gaze, but as the tears slid down her cheeks, the love dissolved, leaving only bitterness and venom.
Her hands gripped the steering wheel until her knuckles turned white. The agony in her chest hardened into resolve.
“Brendon,” she whispered, her voice trembling with poison. “You’ve left me no choice. If you think you can throw me away, you’re wrong.”
A few dayster, Christina made her way to Morfort Restaurant. Chloe had called, promising a fancy meal and a chance to meet someone new, so Christina agreed.AdChoicesADVERTISING

“Christina!” Chloe practically flew across the room, immediately linking her arm through Christina’s. “I missed you like crazy!”
“We literally saw each other two days ago,” Christina pointed out, unable to hold back a softugh at her friend’s theatrics.
Since the news broke that Dn had cklisted Christina across the industry, Chloe made sure to curse him out every time they met.AdChoicesADVERTISING
“Well, you know what they say. Absence makes the heart grow fonder!” Chloe replied with a carefree giggle.
Morse adjusted the thin, gold frames of his sses and spoke in a polite, gentle tone. “Why don’t we all sit down and catch up?”
“Come on, let’s sit!” Chloe happily dragged Christina toward the table and settled them both down.
Christina nced between their faces.
Anyone could see they were a loving couple; the soft light in Chloe’s eyes alone showed how happy and content she was.
“So, has he been behaving himself?” Christina teased yfully. “If he ever gives you any trouble, you better tell me. I’ll make sure he learns his lesson.”
