Chapter 1494

    ?Chapter 1494:

“Dn… Are you serious?” Chloe’s voice cracked, fresh tears filling her eyes.

“Pick one. That’s all you get,” Dn replied, his gaze sharp enough to cut ss.

When she realized Dn wasn’t bluffing, Chloe broke down, but her grip on Morse’s hand only got tighter.

On one side was her blood family; on the other, the man she loved.

She didn’t care about the money or the name—it was her family she couldn’t bear to lose.

How was she supposed to choose between the two people she loved most?

Morse saw the torment in her eyes. He reached out, brushed away her tears, and gave her a sad smile. “Chloe… choose your family.”

Then he turned to Dn. “Forget everything we talked about. I’ll leave. I’ll go overseas. You won’t see me again.”

Since Chloe couldn’t choose, he chose for her. She’d be better off with her family than with him. And asking her to walk away from them would have torn her apart.

“You better stick to that,” Dn said, voice like ice.

“I will!” Morse said, trying to pull away—but Chloe wouldn’t let go. Her grip was desperate.

“No! I won’t agree!” Chloe cried, her voice shaking with anguish. “You’re not me! Who gave you the right to decide my life for me?! Morse, you lied! You promised me—no matter what happened, we’d face it together. And now? You’re just going to run off and leave mepletely alone?!”

“Chloe…” Morse murmured, his expression tight with pain. “If staying with me means you lose your family… I can’t stand to see you hurt like that.”

“Do you really think leaving you behind would make me happy?” Chloe shot back, pounding on his chest like she was trying to knock some sense into him.

Morse didn’t stop her. He let her fistsnd, absorbing her fury, every blow tearing at his heart.

He wanted nothing more than to hold her close, but the thought of her losing her family was unbearable. He couldn’t force her into that kind of pain.

Dn, as always, was unyielding. He had given Chloe just two paths. No wiggle room, no hidden escape. There was no third choice.

He was cornering her, forcing her to choose, and it felt like he was asking her to rip her heart in two.

Watching them suffer twisted Dn’s stomach, but he had no choice. This was a battle she had to fight herself.

“I won’t take any of the family’s support. But I can’t cut my family out of my life. I don’t want their perks or their privileges—I just want to stay a part of this family.” Chloe’s eyes lifted, pleading and desperate, shining with unshed tears.

Hesitantly, she reached out and lightly tugged at the hem of his trousers, her whisper almost too quiet to hear. “Is that… okay, Dn?”

Seeing him stiff as a statue, expression cold and unmoving, her heart sank into an abyss of misery.

Why was he doing this to her? Her chest ached. Every fiber of her being screamed against his cruelty.

“Dn…” Her voice cracked, trembling like that of a wounded fawn—pitiful and raw.
