Chapter 1483

    ?Chapter 1483:

The Millers finallyughed—lightly, freely, like people who had been holding their breath for too long.

Christina gave Robin a light pat on the shoulder. “Besides, this is my good friend’s home. I can’t just stand by and let someone else take it from him. The thought of my dear friend ending up under a bridge is simply unbearable.”

The repeated word “friend” made Robin’s jaw tighten. His face darkened instantly, irritation shing in his eyes.

“Who’s your friend?” he snapped, his tone edged with frustration.

His family’sughter rippled through the room, warm and teasing, but to Robin, it felt like a cruel reminder that everyone saw him as nothing more than Christina’s “good friend.”

A knot tightened in his chest; that easyughter scraping against his pride and leaving behind a hollow, ufortable ache he couldn’t quite shake.

He didn’t want to be her friend—he wanted more.

Trying to cover his difort, he turned to her with feigned annoyance. “You troublesome woman, you don’t even have a ce to stay, do you? Finee stay at my house as long as you like.”

    He wanted her close—permanently.

“Which room do you want? I’ll have it cleaned for you,” he added quickly. “And as for Dn, forget about him. I’ll handle it.”

“There’s no need. I already have a ce to stay. I’m heading back to Dorfield,” Christina said lightly.

“What?” Robin eximed, his eyes widening in disbelief.

The others stared at her too, stunned by her decision. None of them could understand why she would go back there.

“Why Dorfield? That’s Dn’s turf! Going back there is as good as walking into a lion’s den!” Robin demanded, brows furrowed.

If she stayed in Kitaso, the Millers could protect her—shield her from whatever Dn might try.

    ????????’?? ?????? ??????????: ???????????ν??????????????

But in Dorfield, she’d be beyond their reach. If anything went wrong, they’d never get to her in time.

“Christina, you should stay here. With the Millers behind you, Dn wouldn’t darey a finger on you,” Kurt said firmly.

Even though the Miller family didn’t hold the same level of power or prestige as the Scotts, they still chose to stand up to Dn—for her sake.

What truly struck Christina was that even while they were fighting their own uphill battle against Noah, stretched thin and exhausted, they had still found the time and strength to carve out a path of safety for her.

Their sincerity moved her deeply, leaving a mark on her heart she knew she wouldn’t forget.

She silently vowed that for as long as she lived, she would protect the Miller family with everything she had.

“Kurt, thank you for caring so much, and thank you all for being so good to me. But there are people I care about in Dorfield—I have to go back,” Christina said gently, her voice brimming with gratitude.

At her words, Kurt’s face tightened, a line of worry forming between his brows.

“Christina, if you return to Dorfield, I won’t be there to keep an eye on you,” he said, his tone filled with concern.
