?Chapter 1478:
Every time Lorraine had erred, she had gone further—growing bolder and crueler.
If they kept shielding her, she’d destroy not only her own family but drag the Millers down with them.
Christina had saved them all, and yet Lorraine had dared to turn on her. It was beyond forgiveness.
“Celine! I’m the one who saved your life! How can you turn on me like this—how can you?” Lorraine’s scream tore through the room as she lunged forward, shoving Celine hard to the floor.
Before anyone could react, she was on top of Celine, eyes wild with hatred, both hands closing tightly around Celine’s throat.
“If you won’t help me,” she snarled, her face twisted, “then give me back the life I saved!”
Robin surged forward in a blur, his boot mming into Lorraine’s side as he kicked her off his mother with brutal force.
“Mom!” he shouted, hauling Celine into his arms and pulling her behind him protectively.
Lorraine, face contorted in rage, tried to push herself up again, but the guards were quicker.
They pinned her t to the floor, her wrists trapped beneath their knees. Even immobilized, her eyes zed with venom as she spat out her fury.
“I saved your life!” she hissed through clenched teeth. “Now give it back to me!”
Celine met that furious re, and a dull ache spread through her chest.
From the very beginning, she had treated Lorraine like her own child—nurturing, defending, believing in her. But all that love had been met only with betrayal.
Now, staring into those hateful eyes, Celine felt nothing but a hollow chill settle deep within her heart.
She had always known Lorraine’s character was wed, yet because Lorraine had saved her life, she’d never treated Lorraine with anything less than kindness.
Whether it was food, clothing, or the generous financial aid she gave the Reynolds family, Celine had never held back.

If Lorraine had possessed even a shred of decency, Celine would have shared part of her own inheritance with her one day. But no matter how hard she tried to guide Lorraine, Lorraine refused to change.
All that patience, all that forgiveness—it had been wasted. In the end, Celine had only raised a viper that turned to bite the hand that fed it.
“If it weren’t for me, you’d be dead already!” Lorraine shrieked, her face twisting with hatred.
Christina didn’t let her get another word out. She stepped forward and struck her—once, twice—two clean, hard ps that cracked through the room like gunfire.
The sound cut through the air, leaving everyone frozen in stunned silence.
Lorraine stood there, eyes wide, too shocked to speak.
Then, as the sting bloomed across her cheeks, fury came roaring back. “You bitch! What gives you the right to hit me?” she shrieked.
Dayton stepped forward before anyone else could move. His hand flew across her face with a resounding smack, his voice booming with barely restrained fury. “She’s the one who saved our family! Who are you to question her right to hit you?”
