?Chapter 1467:
“Sure,” Christina replied with a pleasant smile, masking the sharp awareness beneath her calm exterior.
Lorraine’s sudden show of warmth dripped with false sweetness—her insincerity was almost tangible.
Christina couldn’t understand why she insisted on courting disaster.
If only Lorraine had heeded her warning and stayed in her ce, she could’ve spent her life basking infort under the Millers’ wing, surrounded by privilege.
But she was simply born without the grace to live quietly.
“There’s room in my car. Come with me,” Robin urged, gripping her hand tightly, concern etched across his face.
Couldn’t she see the danger staring her in the eye? Everything about Lorraine radiated trouble.
Kindness like hers was never real—it always came with strings attached. Robin didn’t buy her act for a second. Women like that didn’t just turn over a new leaf overnight.
“No need,” Christina said lightly, pulling her hand free and giving him a gentle push. “Go on, don’t keep them waiting.”
“Then I’lle with you,” Robin insisted stubbornly, unwilling to let her face whatevery ahead alone.
Christina cast him a quick look, one that clearly warned him not to interfere. “It’s just women’s talk—you wouldn’t get it. Now go.”
But Robin didn’t take the hint. His frown deepened. “You’re drunk, Christina. Your eyes are twitching—you need a hospital.”
The corner of her mouth twitched. She was tempted to kick him straight back to the Miller estate.
What good were subtle hints to a man who couldn’t read them?
“I’m fine. Not drunk, not dizzy. Stop fussing,” she said, pushing him toward his car. “I’ll teach you the Skyfall Shuffle tomorrow if that’ll keep you quiet.”
Once they were far enough away from Lorraine, Christina’s voice dropped to a whisper. “I’m not actually drunk—but she’s definitely plotting something. If she tries to pull another stunt, your family needs to cut ties with herspletely. If you don’t act now, the Reynolds will drag the Millers down from the inside.”
???????? ???????????????? ???????? g???????ν????????????
Robin froze, realization dawning. She hadn’t been twitching—she’d been signaling him.
The clearer she spoke, the more foolish he felt for missing it earlier.
“Got it?” Christina asked quietly. “This is thest time I’m stepping in. If you don’t listen, you’ll deal with the consequences yourself.”
“Yeah…” Robin murmured, his toneced with worry. “Just be careful, alright? Don’t take unnecessary risks. Don’t try to act brave.”
He wanted to tell her she didn’t need to shoulder this burden alone, but once Christina made a decision, no one could sway her.
After this, if the Reynolds family failed them again, no old debts or favors would matter.
They’d endured enough and done more than their share repaying Lorraine’s so-called kindness.
“Alright,” she said softly, giving him a small push toward his car before turning away.
