Chapter 1450

    Chapter 1450:

Katie let out a derisive scoff. “Wasn’t she cklisted by Mr. Scott across the whole industry? She’s betting on herself deliberately—trying to lose to Noah so he can take her abroad.”

Brendon’s face hardened, his expression darkening as frustration welled up inside him. His fists tightened until his knuckles turned white, his gaze never leaving the TV screen. Deep furrows etched across his brow.

He had tried reasoning with Christina before—calmly, gently—but she had refused to listen.

And now, she was willing to gamble herself away to a stranger. What was going through her mind? Did she truly believe that some outsider was better than him, someone she had known for years?

Noah was a gambler—one reckless hand away from losing everything and ending up destitute.

If Christina tied her fate to him, she could be nothing more than another wager, easily lost in someone else’s game. Had she even thought about the consequences? What could she possibly see in a man like that?

“I don’t think Christina’s like that…” Ynda murmured softly, pretending to defend Christina.

Katie sneered. “Oh,e on. That’s exactly who she is! Otherwise, why would she put herself on the line? It’s obvious—she’s after Noah. A discarded woman and a gambler—what a perfect pair! They’ll find each other and rot together.”

“Oh, for heaven’s sake,” Ynda sighed, ying it on thick. “What happened to Christina? She’s like a stranger now—not the girl we used to know.”

She flicked her eyes toward Brendon and caught that familiar flicker of disgust in his gaze. It gave her a small, guilty thrill.

“Who gives a damn what she’s turned into?” Katie cut in, leaning back with a smirk. “She made her choices—now she can deal with the fallout. Honestly, I don’t even have to watch to know she’s going down.”

All that pent-up resentment from years of living in Christina’s shadow finally spilled free, and God, it felt good.

The idea of Christina falling t on her face lit her up inside. Finally, it was her turn to take the hit.

“That woman—ugh, she’s absolutely—” Katie was clearly gearing up for another jab when Brendon’s voice sliced through her fun, his expression cold enough to shut her up mid-breath.

“That’s enough,” he snapped, shooting her a look that could freeze steel. “Just shut up and watch the damn stream.”

Katie bristled, her irritation simmering just under the surface, but she forced herself to stay quiet.

Still, she couldn’t smother that rush of satisfaction at the thought of Christina losing everything.

She was too pleased with herself to start a fight, so she let it slide.

She grabbed her chips and coffee, settling infortably, ready to savor every second of Christina’s downfall like it was a long-awaited movie premiere.

Brendon, though, wasn’t enjoying any of it. His face had gone hard, his eyes glued to the TV, watching the live feed with an intensity that made the room go still.

On-screen, the dealer lifted the lid of the box, revealing a pile of shreds that looked harmless—until the game began.
