Chapter 1425

    ?Chapter 1425:

Suddenly, a gun was pointed at her, and the trigger clicked.

Morse jumped in front of her, taking the bullet himself. The shooter went down fast, but the bullet hit Morse before that.

    Chloe went pale as ice.

“No!” she yelled, her voice shaking. “Morse!”

Her legs regained their strength. She ran to him, tears streaming down her face.

As he fell, she knelt beside him, holding him in her arms.

“Morse… Why did you take the bullet for me?” she cried, her voice full of fear and anger.

She pressed on his wound, but it didn’t help. Panic washed over her—there was nothing she could do.

Tears filled her eyes as she looked around, not knowing what to do.

“Help! Somebody help…” she shouted, then pped her face in frustration. “I’m useless. I can’t do anything…”

She was terrified of losing him but could do nothing. All she could do was watch the blood flow and feel helpless.

Chloe was consumed by panic and helplessness, feeling herself sinking deeper into despair’s dark tide.

Tears streamed uncontrobly down her face, her throat tightening until not a single word could escape. She tried to speak, but her voice betrayed her—only a weak sound left her lips. In her desperation, the only thing she could utter was that feeble cry, and it made her feel even more powerless.

“Chloe, don’t cry,” Morse murmured softly, his hand rising to cup her trembling cheek. A tender smile tugged faintly at his lips, his gentle voice wrapping around her like a balm for her storm-torn heart.

It pained him deeply to see her like this—so fragile, so shattered.

“Ah…” Chloe’s mouth moved again, but the words still refused toe. The harder she tried, the more speechless she became.

Her tears kept falling, her lips quivering soundlessly, until only a pitiful “ah” slipped out, echoing in the air like a sob lost to the wind.

“Chloe, if my time hase, don’t cry or me yourself. None of this is your fault. It’s just fate,” Morse whispered, still wearing that soft, steady smile meant to ease her pain. He tried to keep his voice calm, but the tenderness in his gaze gave him away—the deep affection he’d carried in silence.

    “Chloe…”

He tried to say he loved her, but the words trembled on the edge of his tongue, and he swallowed them back. He wanted to tell her, wanted to free the love he’d kept hidden in his heart for so long, but he couldn’t bring himself to do it. If he died here, those words would only haunt her, would only chain her heart to sorrow. He couldn’t be that selfish.

He wanted to leave quietly, his love buried with him, so she would never have to carry its weight.

The woman he cherished deserved a life unburdened by grief—a life filled with peace and light. That was his final wish.

“Please, Chloe… don’t cry,” he whispered again, managing a faint smile before suddenly coughing up blood.

The sight of it tore through Chloe like lightning. Panic seized her heart as she cried harder, her voice breaking. “Ah… ah… no…”

She shook her head violently, unable to form words, pleading silently for him to stop talking. She was terrified that another word might steal hisst breath. Tears poured down her face as she prayed someone—anyone—woulde to save him.

She hadn’t even confessed her feelings yet. She hadn’t heard his answer.
