?Chapter 1423:
He knew she had carried this weight inside her for far too long, locking every emotion away with no one to confide in, no outlet to ease the pain. Now, atst, it had burst free, raw and uncontained.
And he knew—if she had kept it trapped any longer, it might have shattered something deep within her, beyond repair.
Christina had been sobbing for what felt like a long time, and eventually, Dn began soothing her, trying to get her to stop. After a while, and with no small effort, Dn seeded in calming Christina and helping her pull herself together. He carefully lifted her to her feet, brushing away the tears from her face, his heart aching for her.
“Do I look awful when I weep?” Christina asked, her tone rough.
“No, you look gorgeous,” Dn answered sincerely, his gaze brimming with warmth.
He lightly poked her nose and grinned. “Even if you weep gorgeously, you shouldn’t weep anymore. Sobbing too much can leave you lightheaded and gasping for air.”
“Okay.” Christina nodded with a grin, but as she did, fresh tears welled up and rolled down her cheeks.
Dn, patient and at a loss, softly wiped her face clean.
“If you keep sobbing, Joelle will feel bad seeing you this way. You don’t want her to fret, do you? She wants you to stay cheerful. You can’t disappoint her.”
Christina nodded once more, her mouth puckering a bit. Then she said quietly, “Okay, I get it.”
She shifted her eyes toward the grave and said, “Joelle, Dn’s looking after me nicely, so you don’t need to fret about me. He’s my boyfriend, and he treats me great. I also have some happy news for you. I’ve located my family. They treat me really nicely… but…” Christina’s tone broke, her emotions overpowering her as more tears began to fall.
The idea of discovering a caring household for herself, while Joelle never got to feel thatfort, made her feel awful and pushed her to cry.
Christina often pictured that her family would have adored Joelle just as much if Joelle had still been around, and that the two of them could have been wrapped in affection.

Christina’s tears streamed uncontrobly, and she couldn’t utter another word. She spun and clutched Dn firmly, bawling without holding back.
“There, there, don’t weep,” Dn said gently, embracing her tightly, feeling powerless as her sorrow tugged at his emotions. Between gasps, Christina…
Christina managed to speak, her phrases emerging unevenly. “I… I think about… Joelle… not… getting to… feel… thefort of families like I do, and it just… shatters my spirit.”
Dn paid close attention, trying to grasp what Christina intended to say. Heforted her, “Even though Joelle never got to feel thefort of families, you provided her with thatfort. Otherwise, why would she have wanted to take your surname? In her mind, you were already a family member to her. The moments you two spent together are a gem—recollections of affection that will endure forever. Live your dayspletely and joyfully, just like she would have hoped for you. Carry her wishes forward in your thoughts. Didn’t she want to see the splendor of the? Then use your sight to uncover its marvels and record those lovely moments. Share your delights and escapades with her. She’d enjoy hearing about everything you encounter.”
