Chapter 1420

    Chapter 1420:

“Chrissie,” Dn grumbled, his tone wounded, “you’reughing at me.”

“I’m notughing at you,” Christina replied, still chuckling. “I just think they’re all rather… endearing.”

“Endearing? More than me? They’re about ready to storm my house and cut me to pieces! Chrissie, you have to stand up for me!” he pleaded, his voice full of mock despair.

If she had been there beside him, he would’ve surely buried his head against her shoulder like a sulking child.

“Alright, alright, I’ll stand up for you. If they reallye after you, you can hide behind me—I’ll protect you,” Christina said, amusement softening her tone.

She never would have guessed that Dn could be so effortlessly, almost disarmingly, adorable when he was being needy—nor that she herself could slip into the same tender ease so naturally.

It struck her then that when someone was truly wrapped in love,

Their voice softened without them even realizing it. The rough edges of their nature began to melt away, turning warm and pliant.

The barriers she had spent years constructing, the sharp thorns she had worn as armor, had slowly withdrawn since meeting Dn. It didn’t feel like she was holding herself back; it felt as if his quiet, constant affection was gently smoothing those defenses away.

Perhaps, deep down, she feared that those same thorns might one day wound Dn—the man who always reached for her with open arms and unshakable love.

And when two people were caught in that kind of love, even the sweetest, most sentimental gestures only made the moment all the more intoxicating.

Inside the vi, Ynda leaned against Brendon’s chest, her smile faint but her eyes dark with irritation.

He’d been passionate againtely—too passionate. She could feel it. He wasn’t thinking about her at all. He was preupied with Christina.

What remained out of reach always held a greater allure. The thought burned like acid in Ynda’s gut.

She had fought tooth and nail for this man, yet here he was, still half in love with another woman.

It was all because of that wretched Christina! If only she would just disappear! But Christina’s downfall was already well underway.

Ynda smirked, satisfied. The woman who once shone so brightly was nowpletely cklisted in the industry. Her future would be bleak, miserable, and lonely.

Or so Ynda believed. She had no idea how deep Christina’s background ran, how powerful her family truly was. Nor did she know about Dn.

Even without him, Christina had more than enough money to livefortably for the rest of her life.

But Ynda, caught up in her own delusions, thought otherwise. In her mind, Christina had lost everything—her fame, her backers, her pride. She’d soon be just as desperate and pitiful as Ynda was.

She never realized that she and Christina weren’t even in the same league.
