?Chapter 1418:
But the moment his hands brushed near her, Christina caught his wrist and twisted sharply, breaking free before he could touch her.
Before Brendon could even gasp in pain, the pink watering can in her hand came crashing down squarely on his head. Water sshed over him in a cold rush, streaming from his hair down his face and soaking his suit.
The chill ran straight through him, from scalp to spine, making him shudder uncontrobly.
“Brendon,” Christina said icily, her tone cutting through the air like frost. “We’ve been divorced for a long time. Show some respect.”
Her voice, cool and merciless, sent another wave of cold crawling down his back.
Brendon yanked the pink watering can off his head, water still dripping down his face, anger shing hot in his eyes—but he forced himself to stayposed.
The woman who had once treated him with endless patience and gentle humility now stood before him cold and unyielding—and he knew, deep down, he had no one to me but himself.
“I only came to tell you this—you’ve been cklisted across the entire industry by Mr. Scott. If you’re willing to—” He reached out impulsively to grab her hand, but Christina sidestepped smoothly, her expression hard as stone.
“Don’t say I didn’t warn you. If you can’t keep those hands in check, I’ll make sure you never use them again.” Her warning was crystal clear—if he daredy a finger on her, she’d personally see to it that he ended up in a hospital bed.
Brendon, having already suffered more than enough humiliation at her hands, froze where he stood. Her voice left no room for argument, and he didn’t dare push her further.
“I’m only trying to help you. Why must you be so difficult? No wonder you managed to offend Dn,” he said, his tone softening in frustration.
Yet beneath that calm exterior, a quiet satisfaction stirred. Once Christina was backed into a corner with no one left to turn to, she’d have no choice but to seek him out.
“I don’t need your false kindness, and I’ll offend whoever I damn please. It’s none of your business,” Christina snapped. She didn’t know who’d started the rumor—that Dn had cklisted her—but the usation stung.

Brendon sighed and tried again, “Calm down. If you ever need help, call me. I can arrange for you to restart abroad.”
Christina stood very still, eyes locked on him, saying nothing. Her stare was empty and cold, stripped of the old warmth. Brendon’s fake concern made her sick.
After a moment, he set the watering can down and turned away. He didn’t know the full story between her and Dn, but the cklist served his end well.
With Dn’s cklist shadowing her name, few would dare to lend her a hand. And when she finally ran out of options, Brendon was certain she’de crawling back—just as he’d always imagined.
When that moment arrived, he would make arrangements to send her abroad—build her a new life there—and in doing so…
The entire industry sought to reim the warmth and tenderness she had once given him during those three fleeting years.
Christina turned at the sound of footsteps and saw Bethel approaching.
