?Chapter 1416:
“I’ll be home soon,” Dn murmured, trying to calm her—and himself—but the tightness in his chest didn’t budge.
Christina’s calm voice came again. “Seriously, no ambnce. I’m fine. Let’s not waste resources.”
“Okay, I’ll do what you say.” Then it hit him—he could’ve just video-called her.
He started the video call quickly, and she answered almost instantly.
Seeing her face on the screen—quiet, a little down, but unhurt—he felt a tiny spark of relief. He’d imagined her lying in a bloody mess, and the thought made his chest tighten painfully.
“Show me—hands, feet, everywhere. Did anything get hurt?” His frantic look almost made Christina giggle.
She flipped to the rear camera and handed the phone to Aylin. Christina stepped into view, spinning slowly with a smile, letting the camera take it all in.
“See? I’m totally fine.” She took back the phone, locking eyes with Dn.
“From now on, no kitchen for you,” Dn said softly. “Leave it to me. I’ll make a menu—you just pick what you want.”
Christina lit up with a smile that belonged to someone swept up in pure joy. Something in her seemed to change, the hard lines of her personality giving way to a new softness that surprised her.
“Isn’t this exhausting for you?” she asked, her voice barely above a whisper.
Dn shook his head, a reassuring smile on his lips. “Not at all. When I’m cooking for you, it doesn’t feel like work—it’s something I actually enjoy.” He meant every word. Preparing meals for her was a pleasure, never a chore.
Seeing her savor his food, listening to her brightughter and genuinepliments, brought him a happiness that ran deep.
“Looks like it’s my turn to support you financially,” Christina teased, a yful grin curving her lips.
With her capabilities, supporting a man would be the easiest thing in the world. Housework never came naturally to her, but she figured a real partnership meant leaning on each other—her strengths bncing his.
Dn’s smile grew, warm and content. Moments like this made him feel like the luckiest man alive. He thought Chrissie truly cared for him.

“Someday, we’ll go everywhere together. See every corner of the world,” he suggested gently.
“Absolutely.” Christina’s answer came without hesitation.
Stepping into the mansion, Dn’s first instinct was to scan Christina for any injuries. Relief washed over him, and he pulled her into a tight embrace.
A little sheepishly, Christina admitted, “Sorry about your kitchen. I swear, the pressure cooker just… blew up out of nowhere.”
Dn held her close, his tone full offort. “None of that matters. What’s important is you didn’t get hurt.” She could destroy the whole ce, for all he cared—her safety mattered most.
That drew augh from her, bright and sincere. “I guess dinner’s a lost cause tonight.”
