?Chapter 1413:
“Grandma, I need to speak with Christina,” he said quietly, ncing her way. “Christina, could we talk outside for a moment?”
“You can say whatever you need to say here,” Christina replied coolly, her tone leaving no room for argument.
Brendon hesitated, his mouth opening then closing as he searched for words under their watchful eyes.
“If you can’t say it now, then don’t waste our time,” Christina said tly. “Please, leave us to finish our meal.”
Brendon’s expression darkened. “We were married once. Don’t you have any respect for that? And this—this is the Dawson residence—I—”
“Enough,” Christina cut him off, raising a hand to silence him. “Technically speaking, this house belongs to me now. As the homeowner, I have every right to ask you to leave. If that bothers you, feel free to call the police and see who gets shown the door.”
Brendon stood speechless, his jaw tightening as he red at his grandmother. If she hadn’t insisted on transferring the estate to Christina, he wouldn’t have to endure this humiliation. And Christina—she wouldn’t dare act so smug and defiant in front of him.
“If you have nothing more to say, you can leave,” Bethel said with a dismissive wave of her hand.
She had long since given up on Brendon and no longer expected anything decent from him. He had grown too cold, too heartless.
No matter how wed Joselyn had been, she had sacrificed everything to give birth to him and raise him with love. Yet he had repaid her kindness with cruelty. The disappointment ran deep. But this was the price Joselyn had to pay for her own poor choices—for favoring Ynda over Christina—and now she was reaping the consequences.
“I came to offer Christina a position at ourpany,” Brendon said finally, trying to regain hisposure. “She’s remarkably talented in fashion design, and I’d like to hire her as our chief designer.”
Bethel said nothing, only turning to watch Christina’s reaction.

“You can name your price. Whatever you want, I’ll make it happen,” Brendon added quickly.
Christina almostughed at the absurdity of his offer. Even without her connection to Dn, she could easily secure a high-ranking position at an elitepany like the Scott Group, with pay and prestige far beyond anything Brendon’s firm could offer.
Why would she be foolish enough to join hispany? The Dawson Group didn’t evene close to being in the same league.
Bethel remained silent. The choice belonged to Christina, and she had no n to interfere.
“You don’t have to say no right away. Just think about it,” Brendon said quickly when she stayed quiet.
“I’ll think about it, but I have two conditions,” Christina replied. She didn’t refuse him immediately, instead meeting his gaze with a faint, unreadable smile.
“If you agree to join thepany, I don’t care about your conditions—even if there are four, I’ll ept them all,” Brendon said, his eyes brightening with a flicker of hope.
