?Chapter 1410:
Wasn’t this the same man rumored to be stern and distant? Yet here he was—almost disarmingly pleasant.
What threw Jordy off even more was how overly polite Calvin was—almost ttering, which didn’t fit the man’s reputation. Jordy took a seat, a faint frown tugging at his face as questions spun through his head.
Christina caught Jordy’s uneasy look and shot Calvin a subtle nce—a silent warning to ease up and keep things low-key.
Calvin caught her hint immediately and forced himself to calm down, trying to hide the admiration that always seemed to spill out whenever he looked at her.
He even tried imagining her as someone he didn’t like—just to keep himself grounded—but he couldn’t. The thought alone made him feel guilty.
How could he possibly picture someone like her—a woman with that kind of brilliance—as anyone unworthy?
Compared to her, the people he disdained didn’t even deserve to breathe the same air.
Jordy caught the sudden shift in Calvin’s expression, and his frown deepened. Something wasn’t adding up.
Maybe he was just overanalyzing things. A legend like Calvin had no reason to act that way toward them. Still, unease settled in his chest—what if they’d said or done something that rubbed Calvin the wrong way?
“Dr. Emmett, we’ve always admired your work. It’s a real honor to finally meet you,” Jordy said, his excitement tightly contained as he spoke with care.
He’d actually nned to contact Calvin himself—never imagining that the man would be the one to reach out first. Calvin had told him he’d been following his work for some time, impressed by his skill, but hadn’t managed to meet him earlier due to his busy schedule in Lionesspaw.
“You’re remarkable—one of Lionesspaw’s finest,” Calvin said with a genuine smile, his eyes full of respect. “I have no doubt you’ll reach even greater heights… Maybe even outshine me one day.”
As he talked, he couldn’t resist sneaking a quick look at Christina. Jordy carried immense potential, and with King mentoring him, it was only a matter of time before he rose to be one of the world’s finest surgeons.

“I’m ttered,” Jordy said with a modest grin.
He almost brought up his sister’s exceptional medical skills but decided to hold back out of respect. A part of him wanted to shout Christina’s brilliance from the rooftops, but he knew now wasn’t the right time.
Over dinner, Jordy and Calvin dove into an animated conversation, clearly enjoying each other’spany. Christina mostly listened, her calm presence brightened by the asional warm smile or lightment. On the way home, Christina took the wheel. Jordy and Calvin had each enjoyed a few drinks while talking.
A few dayster, Christina got ready to head back to Dorfield, while her family nned to leave for Lionesspaw shortly after. Her family said their goodbyes reluctantly, fussing over her and reminding her again and again to take care of herself and visit Lionesspaw whenever she could.
Christina hugged each of them tightly. When she reached her father, she leaned in and whispered, “Dad, be safe on your back.”
“Okay,” Hurley said softly, his hand resting on her back, the weight of parting heavy in his touch.
