Chapter 1386

    ?Chapter 1386:

She had no ns to involve the cops; she trusted her own people more. At least they knew how to

handle things her way. Once the call ended, Christina immediately dialed Ophelia’s number, but the line went straight to voicemail. The phone was off.

She tried the family next, asking each one, but no one had seen or heard from Ophelia.

It was clear now. Ophelia had really been taken.

In the basement of a quiet suburban vi, a red handprint stood out sharply on Ophelia’s delicate face after a brutal p.

Her cheek swelled quickly, and a thin line of blood glistened at the corner of her lips, its crimson hue brighter than her auburn hair.

“Stay in line!” the one-eyed man barked, his single eye burning with anger.

“My father is the richest man in Jasgow. Aren’t you scared of what will happen to you?” Ophelia asked, forcing her voice to stay calm.

The one-eyed man let out a short, mockingugh and looked down at her like she was a fool. “You really don’t know who you’ve pissed off, do you?”

Ophelia drew in a shaky breath. “At least tell me who’s behind this… before you kill me.”

“Fine,” he said with a dark chuckle. “Since you’re as good as dead, I’ll tell you. You messed with the Lloyd family.”

From the moment they took Ophelia, the n had been clear. No witnesses were ever meant to survive.

They had only kept her alive to lure Christina out.

If Christina hadn’t been so skilled and dangerous, they never would’ve gone after Ophelia in the first ce.

Out of everyone close to Christina, Ophelia was the weakest link—and the easiest to capture.

Kidnapping her was a risky move, but they were betting everything on Christinaing to rescue her.

When Ophelia heard the name “Lloyd,” her eyes widened. The Lloyd family had dared to kidnap her?

She steadied herself, taking a few slow breaths to keep from panicking.

“Let me go,” she said quickly. “Whatever the Lloyds are paying you, I’ll give you double. The Vaughn family has way more money than them, and you know it.”

She tried to reason with the one-eyed man, who clearly seemed to be the leader of the group.

But instead of softening, the man burst outughing.

“Ha! God, you’re so damn naive,” he said, shaking his head.

Ophelia frowned, confused. “What’s that supposed to mean?”

Just then, a calm, elderly voice spoke from the shadows. “Allow me to exin it to you.”

The sound of footsteps echoed faintly through the dim hall. Ophelia turned toward it, her breath catching when she saw an old man step into the light—his face lined, yet unsettlingly familiar.
