Chapter 1360:
He brushed a strand of hair away from her face, his gaze full of tenderness and ache.
He brushed a strand of hair from her damp cheek, his words as warm as sunlight after rain. “Once you’ve settled everything here, I’ll go with you to Kitaso. Let’s visit Joelle’s grave together. It’s been so long—she must miss you. I think she’d want to see you again.”
Dn’s tone softened, carrying a note of quiet hope. “Did Joelle have any birthmarks? Maybe—just maybe—she’ll return to you someday, in another form.”
It was a lie, yes, but a kind one—a fragile thread spun to give her something to hold on to.
“Really?” Christina asked, half-believing, half-dreaming. “She had a bite mark—one I gave her, on her arm.”
She knew Dn was merely trying tofort her, just as she had onceforted Davina with gentle falsehoods meant to soothe rather than deceive.
She understood everything, yet a small part of her longed to believe—to forgive herself, to make peace with the past, to breathe without the weight of guilt pressing down on her chest.
“Yeah,” Dn replied, recounting tales from faraway ces—stories of reincarnation, of mysterious signs, of things science could never quite exin.
“If science can’t answer everything,” he said softly, “then perhaps fate holds the pen. Maybe the world’s a story—and some chapters simply haven’t reached their end.”
He leaned forward and pressed a tender kiss to her forehead. “Loss doesn’t always mean forever. Maybe Joelle’s still out there, waiting for you… in another time.”
Christina knew it was aforting illusion, yet she clung to it as though it were real. The warmth of his words seeped into the cold corners of her heart.
Would Joelle truly wait for her in the future? If she kept walking, if she dared to hope again—would she meet Joelle once more, reborn in another life?
The thought was too beautiful, too merciful to question. Like a fragile dream at dawn, she didn’t wish to wake from it.

Christina spent a full week in the hospital before she was finally allowed to go home.
During that time, her family never left her side. They made sure she was fed, rested, and taken care of down to the smallest detail.
Dn was staying in another room just down the hall. Whenever Christina managed to convince her family to take a break, she would sneak over to see him. Their meetings felt secret.
Sometimes, Dn would pout and tease her, “So, when are we telling them? I’m tired of ying hide-and-seek.”
They were an actual couple, not some high school fling, and yet they were still sneaking around like it was a secret. Each time, Christina would try not tough, wrap her arms around him, and murmur something soft to calm him down.
She just wanted to wait for the right time, when her family was ready, before telling them about her and Dn.
