?Chapter 1302:
“The leader of the Phantom Guild has been off the radar for a long time. There are all kinds of rumors about him. I’ve heard he’s recently popped up in Apresh. You’re in Apresh now, so learn about him quietly. If you can win him over, bringing down the Scott family’s empire would be far simpler. If you fail, drop it. At a moment like this, don’t go out of your way to offend him. If you do and he sides with the Scotts, toppling them will only get harder,” his grandfather’s voice crackled through the phone, then ragged coughing tore across the line like someone being gutted.
“Grandfather, remember to take your medicine,” Terrence reminded firmly.
He weighed whether to pull Brendon’s trick to lure King into the open.
The idea made Terrence’s eyes darken with something like disgust. Brendon—the same man who’d cheated on Christina—had somehow won King’s help.
“I’ve taken too much of it, and the medicine’s lost its punch. The leader of the Phantom Guild holds a jade token carved with a dragon shaped like an ‘S.’ It’s priceless. Don’t forget that,” his grandfather rasped. “Be courteous if you find him, and try to secure an alliance. We can promise him rewards.”
Terrence listened closely. He answered in a low voice, “Understood.”
His grandfather’s tone returned to the line. “If it weren’t for the fact that our influence is mainly in Violetford, taking down the Scotts would be child’s y.”
Another coughing fit erupted, followed by the sound of a medicine bottle smashing to the floor. “This medicine is worthless,” his grandfather muttered. “If Deathbringer had taken the job, I would’ve crushed the Scott family long ago. Herbert was lucky to only see his son and daughter-inw die. I wish he hadn’t died so soon—so I could’ve taken everyst one of his family right before his eyes.”
More coughing filled the line. It sounded violent and raw.
Terrence frowned, concern sharpening his features as he said, “Grandfather, take care. I’ll make finding King my priority—everything else can wait. Your healthes first.”
“No!” The old voice snapped, ced with furious resolve. “You must wipe out the Scott family before I die. I want everyst one of them dead, so Herbert will not rest in peace.”
Terrence paused for a beat, then agreed, “Alright.”

After he hung up, Terrence let hisplicated stare drift out over the wide, dark sea.
Everyone was madly obsessed with something or someone. His obsession was being with Christina, while his grandfather’s obsession was the annihtion of the Scott family.
As his grandfather’s chosen instrument of revenge, Terrence had long surrendered to that single-minded fury.
Now killing Dn had be the private vendetta that ruled him.
Terrence stood by the tall window in an upscale vi, a ss of wine in hand, his eyes distant and heavy with quiet sorrow. Behind him, his subordinate stood perfectly still, silent as a statue.
