Chapter 1160

    ?Chapter 1160:

Katie raged on, refusing to yield even an inch, throwing wild usations to strip Christina of any credit she deserved.

“Think what you like,” Christina replied coolly. “If you’re so sure about Ynda, then wait and see who stands victorious in the end.”

She walked past them without sparing another nce. This time, Katie didn’t even try to block her path. Her body stiffened, frozen as if her tongue had been tied.

Why did Christina suddenly seem capable in every way? Why did her presence echo in ces Katie least expected? To her, Christina had always been an ordinary woman—a figure of ridicule at best. So how had she transformed into someone impressive, carrying so many different identities?

It felt as though Christina had ced an immeasurable distance between them, one Katie could never hope to cross. The thought gnawed at Katie, leaving her unable to ept that the very woman mocked within the Dawson family now stood leagues ahead. If Katie admitted it, she would have to admit she had been wrong all along—that the woman she insulted was the one of true worth, and she herself was the fool. That was something she could never allow. So instead, she painted Christina as worthless, clinging to that lie.

Christina’s many identities, Katie told herself, must be products of shady dealings—fabricated personas, no different from the manufactured images of celebrities paraded in the entertainment world. Yes, Christina must be nothing more than a clown skilled in acting.

Brendon turned, his gaze following Christina’s retreating figure. His thoughts churned, leaving him dazed and unsettled. There were so many versions of Christina in his mind, but which one was the truth? Had he been wrong to believe she was vain, nothing more than a flirt?

Ynda turned in time to see Brendon staring nkly after Christina. A deep, unfamiliar ache bloomed in her chest. Her hands tightened into fists at her sides, her teeth pressing hard together as frustration burned through her. It was only because Brendon had sacrificed himself through the torment that she was still alive, and the rare medicine from the healer, King, had lessened her suffering. Brendon had given her everything. She couldn’t—she wouldn’t—allow Christina to steal his heart.

Forcing herself to look away, Ynda pretended not to notice his distraction. She shifted her gaze to the sketchesid out before her—hers and Christina’s. Both designs were evening gowns, yet their styles could not have been more different. Christina’s creation was understated and graceful, while Ynda’s leaned toward sultry allure. But in the smallest details, there were striking simrities between the two gowns, as though they might have been shaped by the same pair of hands.

Ynda studied Christina’s designs with a thoughtful expression and said softly, “Christina has such incredible talent. Her design is fabulous and shares many elements with mine. It’s almost like our minds work the same way. I find that really amazing.”

Her words made Brendon and Katie look at the designs again, this time more carefully. Katie didn’t understand all the design details, but after looking at both pieces for a while, she could see they were surprisingly simr.
