Katie gasped, her voice sharp with rm as she lunged forward to stop him. The crimson streaks spilling from his needle’s mark sent a jolt of terror through her—each drop hammering against her ribs like a cruel drumbeat.
“What are you doing? Press the injection site—your hand’s bleeding!”.
Katie cried, panic trembling through her words as scarlet rivulets slid between Brendon’s fingers.
Brendon’s face remained carved from ice, his tone a de of frost as hemanded, “Step aside.”
“Don’t tell me you’re going to find that wretched Christina?”.
Katie stared at him, wide-eyed in disbelief, her voice breaking. “All this time, Ynda has cared for you day and night in the hospital, while that tramp Christina didn’t even bother to visit. Why are you still worried about her? She dared impersonate Skybreaker—whatever consequences she suffers now, she brought them on herself.”
Before she could finish, his icy eyes cut into her like a physical blow, and her vicious words against Christina faltered in her throat.
“Brendon! Why are you treating me like this?”.
Katie cried, her voice trembling. “It was Ynda and me who stood by you through everything, while Christina didn’t even spare you a thought! And yet you…”
Her eyes flushed red, tears welling as grievance twisted painfully in her chest.
“I’m not worried about her. It’s just… there are some things I need to ask her.”.
Brendon’s stern expression softened at the sight of Katie’s tears, the chill in his tone ebbing away.
“Can’t you wait? You’re still weak—the doctors warned you to rest and recover properly,”.
Katie pleaded, her words breaking into sobs.
“I’ll be back soon.”.
Brendon brushed past her, his steps resolute. Then, as though struck by an afterthought, he paused and turned. His voice dropped low, deliberate. “Don’t tell Ynda. Just say I went for a walk.”
“Alright… Do you want me to go with you?”.
Katie offered hesitantly.
“No. Stay here at the hospital with Ynda—keep herpany.”.
With that, Brendon turned on his heel and strode swiftly down the corridor, still d in his hospital gown.
Katie stood watching his retreating figure, unease curling inside her like a coil of cold mist. Could it be that Brendon had truly fallen for that vile Christina? If that was really the case, what would be of Ynda? No—she could never let that happen!
Detestable woman, Christina must never set foot in the Dawson household again. If Christina were to marry into the Dawson family once more, chaos would consume them all—no peace for anyone.
Outside the stadium, Chloe threw her arms around Christina, her eyes alight with exhration. “Christina! So you’re the legendary Skybreaker! How could you hide this from me? I nearly embarrassed myself chasing some imposter for an autograph!”
