Chapter 764: Chapter 0766: Kidnapping and Coercion

Despite the driver’s innocent smile, Mu Bingtong still detected the sharp look in his eyes, which was definitely not something an ordinary driver would possess.
As Chu Ge’s fiancée, he often taught her how to observe a person. She used to think those skills were useless but now regretted not paying attention to the driver when she got in the car. If she had noticed something off about him earlier, things wouldn’t have turned out this way.
Her head was bing increasingly dizzy, her limbs growing weak, and she could no longer hold onto the documents in her hand, which slipped under the seat.
"Who are you, really?" Clinging to herst bit of consciousness, Mu Bingtong red at the driver, seeming to try to memorize his face, but it seemed to be pointless.
The driver wasn’t surprised that Mu Bingtong saw through him. Before taking this job, Yang Kun had informed him about Mu Bingtong’s background. After all, being Chu Ge’s woman, it was normal for her to recognize his intentions.
"There’s no need for you to know who I am. I’m just someone doing a job for money. Lady Mu, I advise you to just get some sleep. At least for now, you’re safe," the driver sneered, then turned his head away to ignore Mu Bingtong.
Fear rose in Mu Bingtong’s heart, but her vision was blurring too fast. Before she could figure out a way to contact Chu Ge, she passed out.
With a ’thud’, Mu Bingtong fell onto the back seat. The driver nced at her through the rearview mirror, gave a disdainful smile, and leisurely watched as the car drove along a rural path in the outskirts.
"Ring-a-ling!" A cellphone rang in the car. The driver turned his head, nced at it, and answered the call on speakerphone.
"Hello!"
"Where are you guys now?" A hoarse voice came from the other end of the phone. If Chu Ge were there, he would have recognized the voice as an old acquaintance, Yang Kun.
The driver looked at the surrounding scene and said, "Almost there, no more than twenty minutes."
There was a silence on the other end, followed by a ’good,’ and then the call ended. The driver shrugged nonchntly and continued watching the road ahead.
Inside an abandoned factory outside of the Capital City, the smell of mold was everywhere, and asionally, rats scuttled through the umted debris.
On a wooden table with a broken leg, sat a man in a ck hoodie. His hoodie was up, and the factory was dark with no lights on, only asional sunlight filtering through the decrepit windows. The man was shrouded in darkness, merging with it.
Once the car reached its destination, the driver got out first and looked around. Finding no one suspicious, he then opened the back door to drag Mu Bingtong out.
The driver’s movements were rough, and he didn’t handle Mu Bingtong delicately because she was a girl. He couldn’t be bothered with people who weren’t important to him. Fortunately, Mu Bingtong was light, and though the man had initially nned to drag her inside, he reconsidered given she was Chu Ge’s fiancée, and lifted her by the cor to carry her in.
’Ga-ji!’ With a creak, the factory door was pushed open. The man, who had merged with the darkness, opened his eyes at this moment. Under the dim sunlight, one could see he had a pair of red eyes, mingled with malevolence and a hint of demonic charm.
The driver, holding Mu Bingtong, walked towards the shadowy figure. Approaching closer, the driver nonchntly tossed Mu Bingtong in front of the man, his actions showing no pity or tenderness.
Yang Kun watched the man’s action, subconsciously frowning, but seeing that Mu Bingtong was not injured, he then refrained from saying anything.
"Yang Kun, I’ve brought you the person you wanted; where’s the thing I asked for?" The driver threw Mu Bingtong onto the ground, not in a hurry to leave but turned to discuss his deal with Yang Kun.
Impatiently, Yang Kun frowned once again, pulled out his cellphone from his pocket, flicked through it with his finger, stopped at a picture, and handed it to the man. The man looked at it, nodded with satisfaction.
"I gotta say, kid, you’ve got some nerve. This woman is Chu Ge’s fiancée, and Chu Ge is not just anyone. You still dare toy hands on his fiancée, quite the guts!" The driver said as he reached into his bag for a pack of cigarettes, opened it, and offered one to Yang Kun.
Yang Kun cast his eyes downward at the cigarette offered by the man but did not take it immediately. The man held it in his hand for a while, seemingly bored and just about to pull it back, Yang Kun reached out and took the cigarette from his hand.
"Got a light?" Yang Kun said, his voice as husky as always, as if scraped by sand.
The driver raised his eyebrows, said nothing, flicked his finger, and with a ’ck,’ a small me ignited in the dark, first handed to Yang Kun.
Yang Kun lit the cigarette with the driver’s help and put it to his lips, taking a heavy drag and then exhaling a string of perfect smoke rings. His expression visibly rxed a great deal; it seemed not only smoke was released, but also the turbidity within his heart.
"If it weren’t for Chu Ge pushing me into a corner, I wouldn’t have taken this step," Yang Kun said with a self-mocking smile. But given another chance to start over, knowing full well how powerful Chu Ge was, he would still provoke Chu Ge, without the slightest hint of retreat.
The driver nodded, understanding, and didn’t ask further. The two smoked quietly until the cigarette was finished; the driver then threw the cigarette butt on the ground, crushed it with his leather shoe, and nced at the increasingly ring sunlight through the window.
"I’m off. Take care of yourself," the driver said, patting Yang Kun on the shoulder. Yang Kun nodded, holding the cigarette butt, without looking at the driver.
Letting out a slight sigh, the driver pulled on his coat and walked out of the decrepit factory, looked around and, seeing no one was taking notice, got into his car and drove away shortly after.
Throwing the cigarette butt into a damp and shaded corner, Yang Kun crouched down and scrutinized Mu Bingtong’s face in the sunlighting through the window. Her features were delicate, distinctive, and strikingly beautiful—it was no wonder she could be Chu Ge’s fiancée.
He touched her face, and her soft, delicate skin was somewhat unfamiliar to him. Pinching it casually, he stood up. He had no interest in Chu Ge’s woman; it was Chu Ge himself that fascinated him.
Living for so many years, he had never been pushed to such a Realm. If possible, he would rather use his own strength to contest with Chu Ge. Clearly, now, other than using Chu Ge’s fiancée to threaten him, he had no other choice.
