Chapter 1593

    ?Chapter 1593:

He burned to shout his usation—to demand why she had been so reckless as to wed that scandalous Cooper bastard, and why she had hidden it from him for so long. Yet the questions stuck in his throat the moment his peripheral vision registered the crowd: his aides, the rescue personnel, the medics, all watching with the same troubled gaze.

This was a scandal that could not be exposed. Maia, the respected heiress and future head of the Watson family, was secretly married to a notorious yboy. If the truth were revealed, the Watson name would be tarnished and Maia’s reputation shattered.

Dominic forced the rising rage down, his face darkening as he struggled for control.

“How are you feeling?” Maia asked softly, misreading his agitation as confusion from the fainting spell. Worried about the danger of bottled-up emotion, she covered his trembling hand with her own. “Stay still. Try to stay calm,” she said. “The ambnce will be here soon. You need a full checkup—especially a brain CT.”

Only when his breathing steadied did Maia allow her gaze to drift.

A short distance away, Chris stood under guard, soldiers nking him on either side. And at that precise moment, his eyes met hers.

Neither Chris nor Maia spoke, yet it felt as though a conversation had passed between them.

Chris was escorted into a waiting car. Maia averted her gaze and bent slightly toward Dominic, her voice dropping to a whisper audible only to him.

“Grandpa, I need your help with something… Could you see to it that Chris is released?”

Just that one sentence unleashed the torrent of rage pent up in Dominic’s chest. His pupils constricted sharply, disbelief etched across his face.

When Maia addressed him as “Grandpa,” he had been inclined to honor her requests—so long as they didn’t breach his principles. But hearing Chris’s name? That was absolutely impossible. He was still simmering with anger, his grievance against Chris far from settled. And now Maia dared to plead on his behalf?

The fury he had barely restrained surged back with even greater force.

“You!” Dominic’s eyes widened, his finger trembling as he pointed at her.

Before he could speak, his vision blurred and the strength drained from his hand. His head drooped, and he copsed heavily to the ground once more.

    Chaos erupted around them.

“General Watson has fainted again!” “Quick—grab a stretcher! Take him to the nearest hospital in the northern suburbs!”

Twenty minutester, the corridor of Norase Hospital was thick with tension. Fully armed soldiers stood at the entrance to the emergency room like sentinels, eyes sharp, blocking all outsiders. Dominic’s condition had stabilized, but he remained unconscious.

The emergency room doors swung open. The attending physician emerged, mask already pulled down, brows knit tightly as he swept the corridor with a hard, stern look.

“Who here is family for the patient?”

Maia stepped forward, face pale. “I am.”

The doctor’s gaze cut through her, his tone sharp with rebuke. “What do you think you’re doing? Don’t you realize he has severe hypertension?”

    Maia froze, eyes widening. “Hypertension?”
