The next day, Ren Feifan received a call from Xu Shihan.
Lately, Cui Ying seemed a little upset, and Xu Shihan felt that too many things had been happening recently. Therefore she nned to take Cui Ying to the temple to burn incense and pray to Buddha, asking Ren Feifan to apany them.
With the twodies asking him, Ren Feifan could not refuse.
Back then, the old Ren Feifan would have disdained the act of burning incense and praying to Buddha, thinking it was just a psychologicalfort. Yet now that he’d entered the practice, he held a certain respect for these deities.
Would the highest state of cultivation be like those immortals who tread the void?
Are those the so-called Buddhas? Are those the so-called immortals?
Xu Shihan and Ren Feifan had agreed to meet at Ziyun Temple in Jiangnan Province.
That’s because the most famous temple in Jiangnan Province was Ziyun Temple.
The thousand-year-old Ziyun Temple was situated in Ziyun Mountain, at the northern part of Jiangnan province. It was established in the tenth year of the reign of Tang Xianzong by Duan Qing, a wealthy businessman from the Tang Dynasty. It was bought by Zhong Sizhan, a wealthy elderly person from ancient Jiangnan, who requested Xue Rong, the prefect of Huzhou, to build a temple on thend of Zhu Anqi, the tomb of a senior official from the Southern Qi Dynasty. The temple was destroyed shortly after, but Yi Chang put great effort into rebuilding it.
Ziyun Temple was destroyed due to warfare a hundred years ago.
It wasn’t until the 1990s when Ziyun Temple raised millions of funds andpleted the reconstruction of Daxiong Treasure Hall by the end of the following year. This hall was a Tang-style steel and cement structure, supplemented by some woodenponents. The structure was exquisite, the shape unique, and the aura was majestic.
The hall was covered with yellow ceramic tiles, dragons soared towards the sky from the two sides, bell sounds wafted from the four corners of the flying eaves. Hanging above the hall door was the que inscribed with "Daxiong Treasure Hall" in Zhao Puchu’s regr script which was elegant and vigorous, embodying an extraordinary aura.
Ziyun Temple was a ce where many dignitaries in Jiangnan Province liked to worship.
Because it was said to be spiritually connective, any cmities you might face could be averted by praying devoutly at Ziyun Mountain.
Ziyun Temple also housed a master named Master Wutian, a genuine enlightened one. He hardly showed himself, but if he did, it was for a destined person.
Any fortune telling task he took up would turn out urate.
This was quite scary.
This was also one of the reasons why Xu Shihan insisted on visiting.
The next day, Xu Shihan made an early morning call, as praying for blessings was inevitably an early-bird task. The three agreed to meet at the foot of Ziyun Mountain.
When Ren Feifan arrived, he found that Xu Shihan and Cui Ying had already been waiting there for a while.
Cui Ying with her long xen hair, wore a thin white baseball jacket and ck cropped sports pants which were cut to be in the trendy corn tassel style; her feet were fitted in a ratherfortable pair of sports shoes. When she saw Ren Feifan, both her cheeks, along with her slender white neck, turned red, looking adorably translucent against her fairplexion.
However, Ren Feifan could still see a trace of sorrow in Cui Ying’s asionally distressed expression.
Her entire family had been wiped out and it would be tough for her to move on from it.
This would be the case for anyone!
Xu Shihan on the side, was equally eye-catching. Her jet-ck hair cascaded down like a waterfall, her enigmatic eyes were captivating, her nose was refined, her pink cheeks slightly flushed, her cherry lips were as enticing as the ripe fruit, her body was slender and graceful, her looks so pure and refined.
Her T-shirt and her ck and white striped sports pants showed off her curvaceous figure, making her all the more attractive.
With such two beauties by his side, climbing the mountain and praying to Buddha would not be at all dull.
"Ren Feifan, for your tardiness, that’s a negative point," Xu Shihan said.
Ren Feifan was on the verge of tears: "Dear wife, you clearly stated 8 o’clockst night. But at 4 in the morning, you woke me up. Isn’t that way too early?"
Xu Shihan nced at Cui Ying, tossed her backpack to Ren Feifan and said: "I fancy it! The backpack contains food and utilities. As punishment, you’ll have to carry it."
Ren Feifan epted the backpack and conscientiously put it on.
"Let’s go. The staircase is quite long, we probably have to climb for a long time."
Ren Feifan led the way, allowing thedies to follow behind him. This way, he could clear the way for them.
Ziyun Mountain was one of the top ten high mountains in Jiangnan province. Halfway up, Xu Shihan was running out of steam.
Xu Shihan’s physical condition wasn’t as good as that of Cui Ying who worked out regrly, not to mentionpared with Ren Feifan.
"I’m having difficulty climbing anymore... Ren Feifan... huff huff."
Xu Shihan bent over, leaning against a tree, panting.
It was said that the reason why Ziyun temple was built so high was to test the perseverance and determination of the pilgrims. That’s why they installed ny-nine steps.
Ren Feifan nced at Cui Ying and saw that she was just slightly flushed but otherwise fine. Xu Shihan, on the other hand, was clearly struggling. He then said, "Get on my back, I’ll carry you."
"Feifan, are you sure you want to carry me? It’s still a long way up."
Xu Shihan looked at the seemingly endless end and was quite worried. Even though Ren Feifan still looked unfazed after the climb, carrying extra weight would undoubtedly be difficult for him. She quickly shook her head and said, "I’ll be fine after a bit of rest."
"Get on!" Ren Feifan ignored Xu Shihan, turned his back towards her, gave her firm buttocks a nudge, and hoisted her onto his back.
Xu Shihan’s pretty face turned red. She whispered into Ren Feifan’s ear, "Don’t touch my butt!"
Ren Feifanughed: "I didn’t touch it, I was just rubbing it."
You--"
Facing such a cheeky Ren Feifan, she was left at a loss for words.
Though Cui Ying was slightly jealous, she didn’t say anything. It was not like Ren Feifan could carry both of them, anyway.
The trio soon arrived at the peak of the mountain, Ziyun Temple.
Ancient and sacred, the view of the temple was a sight to behold. The almond-yellow temple walls, the cyan-gray hall ridges, and the lush green towering ancient trees, all bathed in the rose-red glow of the morning sun. Ren Feifan couldn’t help but nod in approval, the ce had its own unique charm.
The only thing that seemed out of ce was the three bodyguards in ck robes standing guard at the entrance of Ziyun Temple, looking imposing and stern.
The first hall of Ziyun Temple was Tianwang Hall, with a bell tower and a drum tower on either side. Beyond Tianwang Hall was the Daxiong Treasure Hall which had sculptures of the "Buddha of Three Worlds" in the center. Proceeding further from the Daxiong Treasure Hall, you would arrive at Yuantong Treasure Hall. Also known as Guanyin Hall, it was famous for housing a copper statue of Guanyin with eleven faces.
The final hall of the temple was the Shrine of the Holy Doctor, where a medical saint was worshiped.
Ren Feifan put down Xu Shihan, and sensed that the natural spiritual energy here was much stronger than the outside world. If an ordinary person were to practice here, their speed would definitely increase several-fold.
"Let’s go. Let’s go in and pray. Cui Ying, ter you should pour out your heart to Guanyin Bodhisattva. It’s very efficient," Xu Shihan reminded.
Cui Ying nodded, looking at the sacred temple in front of her, she felt somewhat relieved.
The three finished talking and started to walk towards Ziyun Temple, but the next second, the three bodyguards blocked their way.
"The temple is not receiving visitors at the moment, please leave!" one of the bodyguards stretched out his hand, blocking Ren Feifan’s way, and spoke coldly.
On hearing this, Ren Feifan became unhappy. They had climbed half a day, and just one sentence asking them to turn back, so they should just return without question?
He spoke in a frosty tone: "Is this temple yours? What right do you have to ask us to leave?"
