Chapter 420: Something happened

There had to be something wrong. Killian looked up at the sky, and when he saw the clouds rolling in, he had a feeling that there was something really, really wrong. He took a sharp turn to the left, and the food containers that he had packed and ced in a paper bag slid into the seat behind him. A good thing that they did not spill on the floor of his car. This shit was pricey as hell.
You did not buy enough. His beast grumbled in his head, interrupting his train of thought.
Seven burgers...I ordered seven burgers for us; I think we have enough. Killian did not think that there was anything wrong with the amount of food that he had ordered. From Chinese to Thai, he ordered every single thing, and it was only upon his beast’s insistence that he actually bought burgers.
They are not enough.
Killian knew that they could absolutely smash seven burgers without even trying, but he had no interest in food, as he could not possibly taste anything. What was good about eating seven burgers that would taste like pieces of paper?
Fair enough.
His beast finally stopped with his grumbling, and Killian turned his attention to the seat beside him. He raised his hand and brushed the leather seat. There was not enough of her scent, and the lc hue in it was missing, which made him frown subconsciously. However, this scent was enough to make the tension in his shoulders fade away slightly. But the strain was still there.
He needed more of her scent.
This time, he was going to ask her to start wearing his clothes, and only then would he wear them; that way, he would be able to calm himself down whenever she was not with him. Pathetic, he knew it, but what else could he do? He just missed her too much.
He then raised his head and looked at the lcs that he had brought along with a coconut pastry, and his lips could not help but twitch. He was never the kind of man who gave his woman flowers, but something about Inez made him act all silly. There was no helping it; ever since he found her, he just wanted to give the best to her.
Outside, the sky was not right. It was as if someone had dumped a bottle of ink in the hue of orange. The darkish hues in the orange sky were rather terrifying, as if the world were about toe to an end. And the clouds were not moving; they were circling like they were moving in a funnel-like shape. As if there were a storm brewing, but with all the signs attached missing.
What was more, the shadows seemed to be moving. Not ording to the length of the moonlight, but as if they had a soul of their own.
A human would have fainted at the sight in front of him. Good thing that he was not a human and he deftly drove his car toward the freeway. However, as soon as he turned, he heard the sound of a click and the audio system started up. Jazz music...old and eerie started to y and echoed throughout his car. He did not have that stored in his system. He did not like jazz and had no liking for such eerie songs either. Killian reached out to turn off the system, but nothing. It seemed to have been stuck, and even when he pressed the switch to turn it off, the thing did not seem to be working.
Thunder roared in the sky as the clouds started to close in; it was as if someone had decided to close the little lid that had been left open. A storm-like breeze hit the side of his car and almost sent it off the railing on the right, right into the zing sea downwards. Soon, raindrops started to fall from the sky. Fat, thudding drops that exploded against his windscreen.
"What the fuck?" Killian muttered as he tried to control the car that was almost going out of control. He turned on the wipers, but instead of cleaning the screen, they started to streak it. The rain had turned thick...like really thick.
The re of the headlights flickered. He had turned them on, but they turned off before turning on again. Now he was not doing anything to them either. Either his car had turned haunted or something was ying around with him.
As that wasn’t all. The speed dial kept going past a hundred and then back. The sound of an emergency, as if the car had run out of fuel before jumping back up, echoed in the car.
If not for the fact that the road was quite deserted, Killian wanted to smash the dashboard open. He had never been on a jerky ride like this one before. The car continued to move jerkily, and he only crossed a kilometre in ten minutes, which was really pathetic for someone like him.
Now his remaining patience was running out. Not like he had much to begin with, but still. The fact that he was able to hold on till now was a fucking miracle.
And then, with onest roaring roar, the car came to a sudden halt.
"You have to be kidding me!" Killian yanked the steering wheel as the engine shut downpletely. This had to be a joke. Because there was no way things were going to be this bad. He turned the key, but nothing. It was dead.
And he was not the only one; a few metres away, there were countless vehicles that had shut down. The drivers were just as confused as him. They did not seem to understand what was going on, but Killian did. It seemed like there was someone who was stopping him from reaching Inez.
Killian’s jaw clenched. It seemed like he had to shift and run back.
