Chapter 1931 - 2032: An Apology After a Year

Chapter 1931: Chapter 2032: An Apology After a Year

"This ispletely different from before." Zhang Wendong said in shock.

The street was orderly, with a person standing guard not far apart, and they all seemed of high caliber.

Zhang Wendong drove slowly, observing the new city.

Just then, a car approached and stopped in front of them. A person got out, saluted Su Yongzhen, and said, "You must be here to see our leader. Please follow us."

After speaking, the person turned and got into his car, then drove ahead.

"Leader?" Zhang Wendongughed aloud, "You must be joking."

"Don’t speak carelessly, follow them." Su Yongzhen said from behind.

They followed the car ahead towards the edge of the city, stopping in front of a dpidated building.

Zhang Wendong cautiously surveyed the surroundings; as a member of God of Killing, an assassin, he had a natural instinct for danger.

As soon as he got out of the car, he sensed many people lurking around.

"Boss, be careful." Zhang Wendong said with caution.

"These people aren’t against us; they’re the guards of their leader." Su Yongzhen said calmly and headed upstairs.

He still couldn’t be sure whether the leader they mentioned was Xiang Yu.

"Su Yongzhen, hurry up, stop dawdling." Tie Zhuzi shouted from upstairs.

Su Yongzhen went upstairs and saw Xiang Yu sitting tiredly on the sofa.

"Brother Yu, it’s really you." Su Yongzhen spoke excitedly.

Xiang Yu and Tie Zhuzi were both stunned, not knowing what he was talking about.

"You came to see us, who else could it be?" Tie Zhuzi said, pulling him onto the sofa.

Zhang Wendong also walked in, and when he saw Xiang Yu sitting there, he could hardly believe his eyes.

The development in the slum had shocked him deeply; he used to think the slums were beyond hope, doomed to decay.

But now he was gradually changing his perspective.

Back then, when he was ordered to pick up Su Yongzhen from Little Pakistan, he paid no attention to Xiang Yu.

At that time, Xiang Yu was just a gang leader, and back then, Zhang Wendong felt Xiang Yu would never understand Su Yongzhen’s predicament. Now it seems he was shortsighted.

"Don’t sit, just stand there." Tie Zhuzi said to Zhang Wendong impatiently.

"Zhuzi." Xiang Yu quickly stopped him, then said to Zhang Wendong, "Come over and sit."

Zhang Wendong wasn’t shy and walked over, saying, "Is all of this your doing?"

"What do you mean?" Xiang Yu asked in confusion.

"The city’s transformed drastically from before. Can’t believe the old slums even have hope." Zhang Wendong said.

Xiang Yu smiled and replied, "With determination and perseverance, development is always possible."

Xiang Yu and Tie Zhuzi had always been involved in the slum’s development, so the city’s progress didn’t surprise them.

"Sorry, I was shortsighted before and underestimated you." Zhang Wendong sincerely apologized.

"That’s more like it. One must be humble, not act all arrogant." Tie Zhuzi quickly said.

Xiang Yu gave him a look to signal Tie Zhuzi to not speak.

Tie Zhuzi chuckled, "I’ll go make some tea for you all."

Zhang Wendong knew Su Yongzhen had something to discuss with Xiang Yu and stood up, went to the window, looked outside.

He was proud to be a member of God of Killing, as not everyone could join.

It required excellent physical fitness and assassins’ talent.

But members of God of Killing lived in the shadows, operating at night, never revealing their identities.

Often, he wished for a worry-free life, yearning to move with Su Yongzhen to a peaceful ce.

But fate drove him forward; if he didn’t strive, he’d end up dead.

"What are you daydreaming about?" Tie Zhuzi said, joining Zhang Wendong by the window.

Zhang Wendong shook his head and smiled, "I envy you, having your own endeavor, progressing worry-free every day."

"Stop kidding. Who’s worry-free? You don’t know how much we’ve endured, how much we’ve been hurt to get here." Tie Zhuziughed heartily.

Zhang Wendong nodded. He knew iming this city wasn’t easy, let alone maintaining power.

If not for Xiang Yu’s presence, Wolf Fang’s people would’ve intervened long ago.

"Interested in joining us?" Tie Zhuzi asked boldly.

Zhang Wendong paused momentarily, looking intently at Tie Zhuzi, and saw sincerity in his eyes, not bluffing.

For a moment, Zhang Wendong genuinely considered agreeing, and pulling Su Yongzhen along.

But he shook his head, saying, "My fate isn’t mine to decide; he dictates everything."

"Boring, being all deep and stuff." Tie Zhuzi said dismissively, then moved to the sofa.

Zhang Wendong somewhat knew Tie Zhuzi; he shook his head and smiled without saying much, since joining God of Killing, his destiny was never his.

If not for Su Yongzhen keeping him close, he’d likely be dead by now.

Watching Su Yongzhen earnestly conversing with Xiang Yu, he smiled faintly and again looked outside.

"Brother Yu, what should I do now?" Su Yongzhen asked.

Xiang Yu reclined on the sofa, quietly pondering, then said, "Why did the old man suddenly want you to gather money? Has God of Killing had any major actions recently?"

Su Yongzhen thought for a moment and shook his head, "No, everything’s been routine."

Su Yongzhen then seemed to recall something, saying, "Actually, I’ve heard the old man is close with COM’s peopletely, not sure what they’re up to?"

"You don’t know about the internal matters?" Xiang Yu asked, puzzled.

Su Yongzhen shook his head helplessly, "On the surface, Su Zhe and I are the next leaders of God of Killing, but we’re actually nothing, with only a few subordinates, unable tomand the organization’s core power."

Xiang Yu was momentarily stunned and then thoughtfully reclined on the sofa.

"Brother Yu, shouldn’t we think about how to get the money?" Su Yongzhen said anxiously.

"How’s your rtionship with the old man?" Xiang Yu looked intently at Su Yongzhen.

Su Yongzhen sneered, "He’s my father in name, but I rarely see him, have no feelings at all."

Xiang Yu could see Su Yongzhen wasn’t speaking in anger, but genuinely felt detached.

"Have you seen him since returning from Little Pakistan?" Xiang Yu asked.

"Once, just after returning, but only that one time," Su Yongzhen said disappointedly.

    Xiang Yu nodded, seemingly enlightened.

"What’s up, Brother Yu?" Su Yongzhen asked curiously.

Xiang Yu shook his head, "Nothing, just a guess, might be a bit disheartening to you."
