Chapter 1232: Chapter 1232: Commander Cao’s True Identity
“Thew is ruthless, don’t me me,” Gao Zhitao said sternly.
Tie Zhuzi, sitting on the side, became anxious after hearing this and immediately grabbed Gao Zhitao by the cor, pulling him outside.
“You better leave quickly, don’t ruin Brother Yu’s mood right after he returns,” Tie Zhuzi shouted.
“Don’t be so anxious, I haven’t finished speaking yet,” Gao Zhitao said helplessly. Tie Zhuzi was known for his hot temper.
“What the hell could you say? You’re thinking of arresting Brother Yu and still want to finish talking? Let me tell you, Mr. Gao, if you dare to arrest Brother Yu, I’ll throw you out of here,” Tie Zhuzi red and said.
Xiang Yu had just managed to return, and he didn’t want Xiang Yu to leave again.
Gao Zhitao could only nod helplessly and said, “Currently, I’m the only one with this information. I haven’t reported it below, which means you’re safe in City Two.”
Tie Zhuzi noticed a change in Gao Zhitao’s tone, released him, and sat down angrily to listen to him.
“Can’t Brother go somewhere else?” Xiaoxuan asked with a frown.
Gao Zhitao nodded and sighed, “It’s not that you can’t, but it’s too risky. If caught, you’ll never get out for the rest of your life.”
Gao Zhitao looked seriously at Xiang Yu, hoping Xiang Yu would take it seriously, but Xiang Yu remained nonchnt.
“Everything I said is true, don’t take it lightly,” Gao Zhitao said angrily.
“I didn’t say anything,” Xiang Yu said with a wronged expression.
In Xiang Yu’s heart, none of this mattered. Having experienced many life-and-death situations, Xiang Yu had be calm and wasn’t easily moved anymore.
“Come with me now, and I can guarantee your safety,” Gao Zhitao said.
Gao Zhitao feared Xiang Yu’s fearless nature and that he might venture to another city. If that happened and he was discovered, even he couldn’t save Xiang Yu.
“Wouldn’t that mean losing my freedom?” Xiang Yu said with a simple smile.
“Compared to life, what is freedom? Just bear with it for now, ande out again when the situation calms down,” Gao Zhitao said.
Although Gao Zhitao was the bureau chief, Xiang Yu was more important in his heart. He didn’t matter what crime Xiang Yu might havemitted, he would do everything to protect him.
“It’s different for me. If a person loses their freedom, they might as well jump into a river and die,” Xiang Yu said simply.
Not wanting to argue further with Gao Zhitao, he asked, “Where are Han Feng and your father now?”
“They’re at my grandfather’s ce, they’re temporarily staying there,” Gao Zhitao said.
“Take me to see them,” Xiang Yu said and stood up.
He hadn’t seen Han Feng since the escape and was anxious about their situation.
Seeing that he couldn’t persuade Xiang Yu, Gao Zhitao shook his head helplessly.
When he saw Xiang Yu wanting to see his father, he led the way ahead.
His father was rescued by Xiang Yu, so it was right for him to express gratitude in person.
The four of them headed to the base. At that moment, Gao Mantang was ying chess with Han Feng.
Sinceing with Han Feng, he hadn’t won a game, yet he continued to y, unwilling to admit defeat.
Gao Lianfeng didn’t have much interest in chess, so he just sat there watching.
While the three were engrossed in their game, Gao Zhitao rushed in.
“Dad, Grandpa, look who’s here,” Gao Zhitao said excitedly.
Gao Mantang and Han Feng didn’t look up; they knew Gao Zhitao always made a big fuss over nothing.
Even though Gao Zhitao was the bureau chief, in their eyes, he was still a child.
“Xiang Yu, is that you?” Gao Lianfeng eximed in surprise.
Hearing the name, Han Feng shivered all over and quickly turned his head to look.
“You’re not dead?” Han Feng jumped up with undisguised excitement on his face.
“As long as you’re alive, how could I be dead?” Xiang Yu said with a simple smile.
The two exchanged a punch and smiled.
“Thank you for saving me,” Gao Lianfeng said to Xiang Yu, though their bond was not deep, acknowledging Xiang Yu as his savior.
If not for Xiang Yu’s push, he might have died in that cave explosion long ago.
Gao Mantang also came over and looked at Xiang Yu with deep emotion, “We have you to thank this time.”
Xiang Yu could see the tears of gratitude in their eyes, quickly waved his hand, and said, “No need to thank me, it was just a minor effort.”
Others viewed Xiang Yu as rxed, but Han Feng and Gao Lianfeng knew how dangerous it had been.
They witnessed Xiang Yu falling from the ne and searched for him, but without sess.
After some cordial exchange, Han Feng pulled Xiang Yu into a room.
Xiang Yu knew he had something to say, so he sat seriously, looking at him.
“I was right beside your captain when he died,” Han Feng said, a bit sad.
Talking about the captain brought a pang of grief to Xiang Yu. He had thought the captain died in battle, only to discover he had been alive all along.
“What did he say?” Xiang Yu asked sorrowfully.
Han Feng paused, organized his thoughts, and said, “He told you to hide quickly, that Commander Cao is not from Huaxia but has been a spy hiding here. Their organization has been running an experiment, and it seems sessful now.”
Hearing this, Xiang Yu wasn’t surprised, as Commander Cao’s behavior was unusually bizarre.
“Did he mention anything else?” Xiang Yu pressed, looking into Han Feng’s eyes.
Han Feng nodded again, “He suggested Commander Cao might be from the Wokou country and warned you to be careful. There wasn’t time to say anything else.”
Xiang Yu listened, nodded, and said little else.
He finally epted the truth that hisrade had been betrayed by someone he once trusted.
“ept the change with calm,” Han Feng could sense Xiang Yu’s intense desire for revenge and patted him on the shoulder to help him break away from those thoughts.
After sitting quietly in the room for a while, waiting for his mood to calm, Xiang Yu finally stepped out.
“You’re all having dinner here tonight. I’ll make fish soup for you,” Gao Mantang said, very pleased.
Having withdrawn from the front-line, he often felt bored. He just wanted more people around to keep himpany.
Xiang Yu didn’t refuse, deciding to stay for dinner.
Meanwhile, Gao Zhitao kept an eye on the surroundings. Now that Xiang Yu was considered dangerous, he worried someone might have ill intent.
Fortunately, Gao Mantang’s ce was very secluded. Usually, it was only essible to military personnel.
The meal was enjoyable, especially with Gao Mantang’s constant cheerfulness. Having his son back allowed him to release some of the guilt he’d held onto, something he never even dared to dream of…
