Chapter 393: Chapter 393: He Has His Reasons

After a long silence, Nan Yuan was the first to break it.
"Yueyue and I are going to have our wedding ceremony redone next month, and you’re wee to attend," he said.
Fu Rongyin gave him a deep look and turned to leave.
Nan Yuan looked toward Chi Yue’s room but, in the end, did nothing and returned to his own.
That night, nothing happened.
Chi Yue also found it surprising because she had slept next to Fu Mianmian that evening, and the situation fromst time did not ur.
When she woke up, Fu Mianmian was still clinging tightly to her arm, showing no signs of waking up.
She got out of bed quietly, washed up briefly, and then went to prepare food.
Unexpectedly, as soon as she opened the door, she saw Nan Yuan standing at the entrance.
"Is something the matter?" she asked.
"I have to go on a business trip today, and I won’t be back for a week," he replied.
Chi Yue had grown ustomed to Nan Yuan’s business trips, she nodded, "If there’s anything you need me to do, you can tell me in advance."
"Chi Yue," Nan Yuan looked at her earnestly, "I hope when Ie back next week, I can hear your answer."
Chi Yue: "...Okay."
She knew this was Nan Yuan giving her an opportunity to back out.
As soon as Nan Yuan left, Chi Yue threw herself into her busy work.
Fortunately, he had arranged all the work in advance before leaving, so even though Chi Yue was busy, it wasn’t chaotic.
That night, she got home early; it wasn’tpletely dark yet when she arrived.
From a distance, she saw someone standing at the door of her house, to be precise, someone holding a child.
Only when Chi Yue got closer did she realize it was Gu Qingyu holding Fu Mianmian.
"I’m really sorry, but I had no other choice. Mianmian kept insisting oning to see you. We rang the doorbell, and you weren’t home. She just fell asleep after crying a while ago."
Chi Yue nced at Fu Mianmian, "Do you have anything else to say?"
Since Fu Mianmian was asleep, but Gu Qingyu was still standing there, it implied that she had something else to say to her.
Gu Qingyu asked, "Can we talk? There are some things I think you need to know."
"There’s nothing I need to know, Gu Qingyu. We’re all smart people here, so there’s no need to beat around the bush. You can stay by his side now, have a child, have a family. Why bother disturbing me?"
Gu Qingyu sighed softly, "Chi Yue, we are old acquaintances, can’t we have a chat?"
Chi Yue replied indifferently, "There’s really nothing to talk about, nor any need to."
With that, she went to open the door.
"Chi Yue, do you really not care about him at all? He sent you to prison, but he had his reasons. Can’t you listen to his exnation?"
Gu Qingyu walked over with the child and blocked her way, "Are you content with how things have turned out between you two?"
Chi Yue looked at her, "Did he send you to speak for him?"
"No, I just feel that..."
"If it’s not, that’s fine. You don’t need to say anything more. Wasn’t it always your wish to stay by his side? Now that it’se true, you should be happy."
After speaking, Chi Yue didn’t give Gu Qingyu a chance to respond, she entered the house briskly and quickly mmed the door shut.
Gu Qingyu gave a bitter smile.
"I just think it’s sad to see him suffering like this."
...
Over the next few days, Chi Yue left early and returnedte, not running into Gu Qingyu or Fu Mianmian again.
Sometimes she even thought it might be easier to just avoid them by moving to a new ce.
But the reality was that she had just bought the house, and it wasn’t easy to sell, with all her money tied up in thepany.
So, moving was just a thought for her.
She had assumed that not encountering Fu Rongyin would allow her to live a quiet life, but Chi Yue was wrong.
