Third Person’s POV
Ampelio roared in frustration.

“By the time I arrived with the Capital Guard, they were swarming Luna Adide–over a dozen wolves against three. If I’d been a minuteter, Luna Adide would’ve been dead in the street!”
Dennis chimed in, his voice cold and sharp as he spoke in fluent Western dialect.
“Your people already wiped out every single member of the Frostfang pack, and now you won’t even let Luna Adide live. Just how deep does your obsession with destroying the Frostfangs go?”
Damian and Milo both caught their breath.
In this entire geopolitical standoff, the Frostfang pack massacre was their biggest liability.
To have members of a diplomatic delegation attempt to assassinate a high–ranking Gamma on the eve of negotiations was a death blow to their credibility.
No nation would believe they came here for peace.
Damian suddenly realized the truth: this was a masterfullyid trap.
A snare built with a dozen assassins as bait, and he had skipped right into it.
Alpha Howell–that bastard who swore he wanted to topple his own King–had never defected.
He was likely Lycan Erasmus’s most trusted asset all along. They had used a fake ally to lead Damian into a corner, one step at a
time.
Damian’s muscles bulged under his clothes, his Alpha aura pushing outward in an unconscious wave of fury.
He whipped his gaze toward Lance, his lips twitching as if to scream a confession, but he bit it back just in time.
He couldn’t say it.
He forced his raging pheromones back into his body, letting them condense into a bone–chilling cold.
Right now, he only had suspicions, not proof.
The second he used Howell, he’d be admitting to secret collusion and treason against his own crown.
That crime was far more lethal than an assassination attempt on Adide.
“Don’t be impulsive,” he told himself. “Don’t jump into another one of their holes.”
Lance knew exactly how vtile Damian was. Seeing the storm of emotions crossing the man’s <bce, he sneered inwardly.
It seemed this muscle–brained Alpha wasn’t a total Idiot after all.

Then he looked at Ampelio.
“Escort Gamma Damian back personally. And make sure you give Princess Helia a very detailed report of tonight’s… ‘misunderstanding.“”
“Understood!” Ampelio bowed, then gestured toward the door. “Gamma, after you.”
Damian shot onest look at Milo.
He pointedly patted his pocket, where he carried the secret royal orders signed by Lycan Orion.
It was a silentmand: “Keep your mouth shut, or else.”
Milo’s heart turned to lead. He knew he was officially a disposable asset.
Since he’d been caught red–handed, the only way to save tomorrow’s peace talks was for him to take the fall for everything.
Walking out of the grim dungeon, Damian felt a chill that made even his wolf shiver.
Where had his math gone wrong?
All the evidence suggested there were only three wolves at the ambush site. Damian still couldn’t wrap his head around it.
No matter how elite Adide’s team was, they shouldn’t have been able to drive a warrior like Milo into such a desperate corner.
Did the Capital Guard set an early ambush?
No, that didn’t fit.
Their intelligence showed that the Guard didn’t have anyone capable of going toe–to–toe with Milo.
And looking at Milo’s whip wounds… he’d been systematically dismantled before the Guard even showed up.
Meanwhile, Bobby Potter was pacing like a caged animal.
Midnight hade and gone, and Damian still wasn’t back. Panic began to set in.
Nothing could have gone wrong, right?
He’d already burned his bridges with Princess Helia; if he went home empty–handed, she’d have him impeached by the Council, and his career would be over.
Just as he reached his breaking point, there was a frantic knock at the door.
“Director Potter, Gamma Damian is back! Princess He wants you in the hall immediately!”
Bobby ripped the door open, grabbing the attendant by the cor.
“What about Milo? Did hee back with him?”
“N–no. Just Gamma Damian and an officer from the Capital Guard.”
Bobby’s heart plummeted. Milo failed?

He practically scrambled into the main hall
Helia was sitting in the center, her face like stone.
The Guard officer had already left, and Damian was slumped in a chair like a discarded rogue, his eyes zed over.
“Damian, what happened?” Bobby stammered.
Damian lifted his bloodshot eyes and let out a guttural snarl.
“We were yed! That rat Howell was a nt! Milo was taken alive!”
“What?! Taken alive? Even in an ambush, Milo should’ve been able to cut his way out!”
Bobby was white as a sheet.
“I saw him in the dungeon…”

Damian mmed his hand against the armrest, roaring, “He was shredded! Whip marks from head to toe! It was Howell! That traitor must have tipped them off! I’m going to rip that mongrel apart!”
Helia watched the two of them, her expression unreadable and her eyes freezing. As she stood up, her aura Lycan aura flooded the room instantly.
“I warned you both… never underestimate a she–wolf. You didn’t even bother to research Adide’s history before you tried to jump her?”
Her voice turned into a whip–crack of contempt, “Against Adide’ssh, a man like Milo… is absolutely nothing!”
