A low rumble vibrated in Lance’s chest, and his Alpha aura quietly filled the bedroom, causing the fire in the hearth to dim.

“She’s confessed to most of the leads we already had,” Lance said. “But there’s one part of her statement that’s a direct hit on Zander. She’s swearing up and down that she only ughtered the vige because she was following his secret orders.”

Adide’s eyes snapped open, sharp and lethal. Her fingernails shifted into jagged wolf ws, tearing through the silk sheets

    beneath her.

“So… the problem isn’t getting her to talk anymore. It’s making her change her story.”

Lance’s gaze was just as bone–chilling. “I’ve already put pressure on the interrogation unit. They know they have to y by my rules.”

Adide forced herself to retract her ws, letting out a cold, bitterugh. “By dragging Alpha Zander down with her, she turns herself into a mindless weapon. She thinks if she isn’t the mastermind, she might walk away from the noose.”

A bloodthirsty red glint flickered in Lance’s eyes. “She won’t get her wish. Her word alone doesn’t hold water. When the army headed to the Bloodscar Border, Zander was wounded twice. Once in the very first battle on the front lines, and the second time… was exactly when the troops were moving toward Snowdeer Town.”

Lance scoffed. “Zander was in aa for three straight days because of the poison in his system back then. How exactly was he supposed to issue secret execution orders to her?”

Adide calmed down slightly, the white–hot rage in her eyes cooling into a simmer. “Velda is desperate. But regardless of the truth, we need witnesses to crush her testimony. What about that officer who was with her… Brock Freeman? Has he been secretly moved back to the capital yet?”

“Everyone we need is already locked in our high–security cells,” Lance said, leaning down to kiss her hair. “The interrogators are running split–sessions on them tonight. Don’t worry. First thing tomorrow morning, I’m going down there myself to break them.”

    “Good,” Adide nodded.

Brock was the weak link. They had acted together in Snowdeer Town. Whether they were following orders or just took the opportunity to loot and kill–only breaking Brock’s mental defense would give them the leverage to take down Veida’s lies

The next morning, the air was thick with a heavy frost.

Lance threw on his greatcoat early. He knocked out his morning paperwork before heading straight for the interrogation blocks Meanwhile, Adide dressed in formal court attire and headed to the Pce alone.

She wanted to ask rissa for permission for Cedric to visit Alpha Zander. If she went to Lycan Erasmus with this, it would inevitably get sucked into a political whirlpool; he’d probably suspect the ckthorns of plotting something in the shadows

But asking rissa was different. She still cherished her long history with the Doyles. Since Zander was already under house arrest. if rissa approved a “family visit,” the political rivals wouldn’t have an excuse to call it interference in state affairs.

Inside the ornate Pce, the air was heavy with perfume. Adide suppressed her aggressive Gamma aura, kneeling dutifully at

    rissa’s feet.

rissa granted the request immediately. She offered some gentle words offort, hinting that Lycan Erasmus would surely consider Zander’s legendary service and show leniency, telling Adide not to panic.

Not only that, but rissa went a step further. She ordered Richard to take a massive supply of rare herbs and tonics to the estate andmanded him to stay there for a few days to look after Zander personally.

Adide was stunned, and a wave of gratitude washed over her.

Zander’s manor was currently surrounded by Royal Sentries whose job was to watch his every move. No matter how powerful Adide was, she couldn’t just nt her own wolves inside to take care of him. But Richard could. He represented rissa. Those sentries wouldn’t dare block his path, meaning Zander’s daily care and safety were now guaranteed.

Once her mission was aplished, Adide didn’t head home. She went straight to the Capital Defense Headquarters.

The moment she stepped through the doors, the smell hit her–a mix of sweat, gun oil, dried blood, and a chaotic blend of wolf pheromones. Adide took a deep breath, and her own battle instincts began to stir.

She stopped holding back. Her dominant aura swept through the hall like a physical wave. The noisy officers went dead silent instantly, snapping into salutes. Some lower–ranking wolves even dropped to one knee out of pure instinct.

She marched to themand table, scanned the duty roster, and summoned Ellen and Danilo. Once she confirmed the city defenses were solid, she spoke coldly, “I’ll be out for the next few days. If there’s a military emergency, send agents to the ckthorns to find me. For routine business, use your own judgment.”

“Rest assured, Gamma Adide,” Ellen stood at attention, his voice booming. “Security for the Western delegation’s arrival is locked down. We’ve scouted the high points and rehearsed the patrol routes. Nothing will go wrong. Focus on your family business.”

Adide turned her head, her wolf eyes locking onto Danilo.

“Danilo, during the delegation’s visit, I want the Royal Patrol on full alert. Keep a tight leash on those hot–headed pups of yours. Don’t let them get baited by the Westerners. We cannot afford a diplomatic bloodbath right now.”
