Third Person’s POV

Velda was trussed up, her hands cranked behind her back in high–security cuffs designed to suppress werewolf strength.

When she’d been tackled, her face had mmed into the gravel. Now, covered in dirt and grit, she looked like a total mess.

She struggled to lift her head, throwing a look of pure disappointment at Ulrik before fixing a death stare on Adide.

Adide stood there in her crisp Royal Gamma uniform. The silver wolf embroidery on the ck fabric represented the kind of glory Velda had spent her life chasing but could never touch.

With a flick of her wrist, Adide’s whip retracted into her belt like a living thing. She marched right up to Velda.

Their eyes locked in the freezing wind.

One pair of eyes burned with the toxic envy of a snake; the other glowed with the cold, righteous fury of a goddess of revenge.

Adide was done hiding her hate.

Even at her parents‘ graves, she had tried to keep her rage in check, not wanting them to see her consumed by it.

But today, it was time to collect the blood debt.

Velda hadn’t just killed Adide’s family and ughtered innocent civilians; she’d dragged Adide’s grandfather, Alpha Zander, into the line of fire.

Adide unleashed the full weight of her Gamma aura, crushing Velda’s spirit.

After only a few seconds, Velda caved. Her wolf shivered in terror.

She looked away from Adide and turned to Ulrik, pleading for help with her eyes.

Ulrik’s earlier move–the strategic retreat–had been a deliberate attempt to block Ampelio from helping Thorne.

If Velda had sessfully taken Thorne hostage or killed him, the chaos would have given her a window to escape.

Memories in Dins libe a undal wave, making his volf Jet out a pained whimper.

He remembered the night they left for Snowded Town. Velda had been sharpening her. de and aabot him, “What if I get ambushed? What would you do?”

He had booked at her fare—belfore the scars, when she was still beautiful in the firelight–and made a vow, “I’ll save you, no matter the cost?

When Velda had asked him to cuff her himself, He knew exactly what she was doing. To honor that old vow, he’d intentionally left a gap in the defense, giving her a shot at Thorne.

But seeing Adide now felt like a p in the face,

He was willing to keep a promise to a monster like Velda, yet he’d trashed every vow he’d ever made to Adide,

“Ugh!” A sharp pain in his foot snapped him out of his spiral.

Ulrik looked down to see Ampelio ring at him

Ampelio had just stomped on his foot with everything he had. As abat veteran, there was no way Ampelio hadn’t caught on to what Ulrik was trying to pull.

“Bastard,” Ampelio hissed through his teeth.

The surrounding wolves heard the insult but assumed he was talking about Velda.

On the other side of the yard, Thorne was leaning on a guard, gasping for air. It took him a minute to shake off the shadow of death.

If Adide’s whip had been half a second slower, he’d be a corpse right now.

He straightened his cor and gave Adide a deep, respectful bow.

“Thank you for saving my life. I owe you one–forever.”

    Adide kept her face neutral.

“Don’t mention it. Just get her back to the Bureau. Keep her under 24–hour watch, put a suppressor cor on her, and search her twice. Do not let her keep anything sharp.”

    “You got it!” Thorne replied.

Before he led the team away, Thorne shot Ulrik a long, suspicious look.

He found the exchange between Velia and Uriancredibly sketchy, but without hard proof and considering Ulrike current standing with Lan Erasmus, his hands were tier

As the sirens faded into the distance, the estate fell into a graveyard silence.

Link stood there, pale and hollowed out.

Ampelio couldn’t hold it in any longer.

“This bastard was in on it! He moved on purpose to give Velda a path! If you hadn’t stepped in. Thome would be dead!*

    “Don’t you lic!”

Gloria jumped in, seeing the danger. The Bloodmoons couldn’t afford to bebeled as co- conspirators.

Ampelio gave her a look of pure disgust. He’d always hated the Ironws, and he especially

    hated Gloria.

“Heh. Gloria, for a woman with such a loud mouth, you sure don’t have a leash on Ulrik, do you?”

Gloria’s face turned green with rage, but she couldn’t find aeback.

She turned her fury on Ulrik. “What are you standing there for?! He’s using you of treason! Defend yourself! Are you a mute now?!”

Ulrik slowly lifted his head, his eyes empty and exhausted. He looked at Adide.

“L…” His throat was so dry he choked on the word

“Can I have a word with you in private?” Adide interrupted.

Ulrik blinked, then gave a slow nod. “Fine. Let’s go to the study.”

“You’re talking to him alone?” Gloria asked suspiciously.

“What can’t be said out here? Am I not allowed to hear it?”

Adide tilted her head slightly. She didn’t get angry; she just released a tiny pulse of Gamma aura that made Gloria’s breath hitch.

“No, you aren’t,” Adide said, her voice calm bu final. “But Ampelio ising with us.”
