Paisley’s tone softened as she turned to Ramona and said, “Don’t act on impulse. Aireanna is seriously ill. Luna Adide specifically instructed that Aireanna receive treatment, even amidst her busy schedule. You can refuse Adide’s kindness, but don’t let your anger dy Aireanna’s care.”
Galvin, noticing Ramona’s red eyes, asked, “What happened? Unwilling <i>to </i>ept treatment?”
Ramona quickly wiped her tears and said, “Dr. Galvin, please follow me.”
“Alright, you two go ahead. I won’te along,” Paisley said, her pride surfacing as she didn’t want further arguments.
She knew her words could be harsh and didn’t want to upset them further.
Ramona, however, tugged gently at her sleeve and whispered, “Paisley, I was wrong just now. I apologize. I’m just… having trouble epting all of this.”
Tears streamed down her face again, her eyes filled with heartbreak and confusion.
She said, “In just a few days, I’ve learned my father betrayed me, the Barkers won’t take us in, and even my sister wants to harm our mother. I don’t understand–why has everything turned out like this? They’re my closest family. Why are they doing this to me?”
The wind howled, nearly drowning out her sobs, leaving only her red nose as a visible sign of her crying.
At this moment, Paisley realized she had been too harsh.
Ramona, raised in such an environment, had no one truly reliable around her.
Not even Dorothy, who was sent by Madison.
Yet, Ramona managed to keep her own opinions and stayed uncorrupted, which was quite an achievement.
Paisley thought that if she were in Ramona’s shoes, she might not have been able to survive
the situation. <fnd61b> Readplete version only at Find_Novel(.</fnd61b>

Especially since Ramona had been able to trust Adide and her without hesitation back then, showing courage and trust that were truly rare.
However, Ramona’s tendency to trust people too easily would inevitably lead to setbacks as part of her growth.
Paisley followed them back to the cottage.
After examining Aireanna, Galvin’s brows furrowed.
She asked, “Her lung disease is severe. Has she started coughing up blood?”
Aireanna weakly smiled and nodded, “Yes, for over a month now.”
Ramona, standing nervously beside them, asked urgently, “Dr. Galvin, can something be done for coughing up blood?”
While writing a prescription, Galvin said, “Let’s try the medication first. Keep this prescription safe. The medicines listed aremon and can be purchased at any pharmacy.”
She avoided directly answering Ramona’s question.
Ramona gazed hopefully at Galvin, seeking a definitive answer.
However, Galvin remained focused on her task and took out a bottle of medicine from her medical kit, cing it on the table. “If the coughing is severe, take one pill. It will provide temporary relief. But this is only for alleviating the symptoms; you must still take the medicine listed on the prescription twice daily,” she instructed.
Ramona recognized the emblem on the medical kit, identifying Galvin as a physician from Digby Medical Center.
She knew the medications from there were not cheap.
Pulling Paisley aside, Ramona pleaded, “You mentioned you could lend me money. Could you please give me some now? I’ll repay you, I promise.”
Paisley took out some money and handed it to her, saying, “Take this. When you’re ready to start your business,e back for the rest.”
“No, this is too much. I just need a food cart on the street. A few thousand dors would suffice,” Ramona said hastily.
“Take it anyway. If you don’t use it all, you can return itter. Besides, Aireanna will need money for her treatment and medication,” Paisley insisted.

Paisley could tell from Galvin’s deliberate avoidance of the family that Aireanna’s days were likely numbered.
Ramona reluctantly epted the money and said, “Alright, I’ll go buy the medicine now and see Dr. Galvin out.”
Once outside, Galvin no longer held back and spoke candidly to Ramona, “I couldn’t say this in front of your mother, but I must be honest with you now. Your mother’s condition would not have deteriorated this much if she had received proper treatment a month earlier. Spend as much time with her as you can. Her remaining days are very limited.”
Ramona felt as if struck by lightning.
If she had any doubt about Paisley’s words earlier, it waspletely dispelled now.
Her mother had taken medicine while imprisoned in the basement, but apparently, those medications were not intended to treat her illness.
The werewolf doctor from Madison’s manor was highly skilled. If they had genuinely wanted to heal her mother, her condition would have improved. Why didn’t they?
She stood there, gripping the prescription and money tightly, as tears streamed uncontrobly down her face.
Galvin, having witnessed many such tragedies, could only offer a brieffort, “Life is full of helplessness. You must find the strength to be resilient.”
Then, she left.
Paisley had intended <i>to </i>leave too, but seeing Ramona in such a state, she couldn’t bring herself to go. She pulled Ramona back inside, saying, “No matter what, your mother still needs your
care<i>.</i>”
Ramona threw the money and prescription onto the floor and rushed into the room.
Kneeling by Aireanna’s bedside, she asked agonizingly, “Mom, tell me, why would Wilorina do
this?”
