Fabian wished to have a private chat with Adide, yet she merely arranged some snacks and coffee for him, preferring to linger and savor the heartwarming family reunion scene a while longer.
Paisley was right. Such reunions were both touching and tear–jerking, filling one with emotion.
Adide wiped her tears, watching Samantha hold Poly tightly, and felt a deep

She knew she’d never again feel her mother’s embrace.
As she turned, she noticed Prisci, a tearful mess, with Susan trying tofort her.
Seeing Adide’s tears, Prisci softened and called out to her.
Adide wiped her tears and approached. Prisci embraced her and dered, “From now on,
your mom.”

Adide was touched, yet felt a bit awkward and rigid.
Since she was half a head taller than Prisci, she squatted slightly as Prisci hugged her tightly and patted her hair, sparing Prisci the trouble of standing on tiptoe.
This made Adide recall what it was like when she had to stand on tiptoe to get close to others–a feeling that was far fromfortable. It left her feeling as if she might lose her bnce and float away at any moment.
“Prisci, Fabian is waiting for me. I should go,” Adide whispered.
Prisci released her, her eyes still glistening with unshed tears, and gently cradled Adide’s face in her hand.

Her skin was so fair and smooth, and her features were just as lovely as Prisci’s had been in her youth–it was truly endearing.
She thought, “Lance has excellent taste.”
Prisci said, “Go on. I need to watch this a bit longer–it’s more touching than any y!”
Paisley walked over to Prisci and jokingly shooed Adide away, saying, “You go on about your business. We’ve got things under control here. Prisci, may I borrow your shoulder? I’m all choked up with mixed feelings.”
“Tell me about it,” Prisci said, hugging Paisley as tears streamed down her face. Unknowingly, they nudged Susan out of the way.
Adide nced back at the conference room, where the family had dried their
tears.
This stirred a sudden pain in her.
She recalled her return from the Shadow Peaks and the devastating news of her father and brother’s deaths. The helplessness and grief she’d felt then were still palpable.
In the lounge, Fabian had finished his snacks and coffee.
Upon seeing Adide enter, he stood and greeted her with a smile.
Adide quickly grasped Fabian’s arm and said, “Fabian, no need for so many formalities. Please, have a seat.”
She was well aware that Fabian had assisted her and her mother in numerous ways, both openly and behind the scenes, over the years. She had yet to properly express her gratitude in person, but now she had the chance.
Once Fabian was seated, Adide spoke earnestly, “I know you’ve helped my mother and me a great deal over the years. And since Lance and I mated, I’m sure you’ve spoken up for him with Lycan Erasmus on multiple asions. I want to sincerely thank you for all you’ve done.”

Fabian humbly responded, “Luna Adide, it’s my pleasure. Please, sit. I have a few words to share.”
Once Adide sat, he continued, “Regarding your role as the Ironthorn Armymander, do your best. Lycan Erasmus, having chosen to trust and empower you, will provide you with ample trust.”
“But remember this, Luna Adide. In a mateship, unity is paramount. No matter the issue, as long as it doesn’t involve betrayal of principles, trust each other implicitly. Always consult and never let power or interests create rifts between mates.”
Adide pondered Fabian’s words. She understood that Lycan Erasmus’s “ample trust” had its limits, given his naturally suspicious nature.
Even with shared interests, absolute trust between people was rare.
Lycan Erasmus, being naturally suspicious, was particrly so. Any trust he granted was exceptional.
As for the importance of trust in a mateship, she acknowledged the challenges ahead.
She and Lance, bonded mates both stepping into politics, might share the same overarching goals, but disagreements on specifics were inevitable. Tensions could easily arise.
As the Ironthorn Armymander, she was duty–bound to obey Lycan Erasmus’s orders.
No matter what, Lycan Erasmus would demand her loyalty to the royal family and himself first.
Conflicts were inevitable, making trust between mates all the more crucial.
Yet, she sensed there might be more to Fabian’s words, perhaps a subtle warning or implication she couldn’t quite grasp.
