Chapter 233: Chapter 233: First Generation CP Fan

"Then why aren’t you making a move already? Let me tell you, that boy seems pretty good. Even if he might have a bit of autism, it doesn’t matter. I think he’s just like any normal person. If you don’t hurry, there’ll be plenty of girls lining up for him in the future."
With that face of his, how could he not be popr?
But she also knew Yun Shifei was beautiful and talented too. Still, she said this only to rile Yun Shifei up. Only tension could spur action!
Otherwise, dragging things on like this, who knows when they’d ever get together? She was more anxious about it than they were.
Hearing Xu Yuejiao say this, Yun Shifei sighed softly, "Sister Jiaojiao, he’s already left South City. We probably won’t have any chance to see each other again."
"What?!" Xu Yuejiao was so shocked she couldn’t help but shout out loud.
In the living room, Mother Xu, who was engrossed in a dramatic scene on TV, suddenly heard Xu Yuejiao’s exmation, so loud it drowned out a critical line the actor was delivering. Irritated, she frowned, "Jiaojiao, lower your voice!"
"Okay, Mom," Xu Yuejiao responded, then lowered her voice as she continued talking to Yun Shifei, "Feifei, exin this to me—what do you mean?"
"Just that he won’t be in South City anymore."
"Then where did he go?"
"I’m not sure either," Yun Shifei replied.
She was only guessing based on her memories from her past life, suspecting that Cheng Lie was in Beijing. But whether that was actually the case, she wasn’t entirely sure. After all, her impression of Cheng Lie in her past life was vague at best.
In this life, she hadn’t originally nned to cross paths with Cheng Lie again—he was such a big figure, who’d dare mess with him?
But who would’ve expected that, because of a twist of fate, their rtionship had improved to this point? She’d even started, little by little, to develop feelings for him.
What kind of absurd situation was this? Xu Yuejiao wanted nothing more than to rush to Yun Shifei’s house, grab her by the shoulders, and shake her until she spilled everything.
"Feifei, so does this mean there’s no hope for the two of you?"
"I don’t know either."
Xu Yuejiao felt her heart sink in despair.
Even though she was just a bystander, she genuinely believed that Yun Shifei and Cheng Lie being together would be something quite beautiful. She had been rooting for this golden couple to end up together.
After all, Shi Fei had endured so much hardship in the past, and that boy seemed to have feelings for Shi Fei too—maybe he’d even treat her really well.
But who would’ve thought! Their rtionship would end just like that?
It was over before it even began.
Xu Yuejiao was so disappointed that she couldn’t bring herself to speak anymore.
"Sister Jiaojiao?" On the other end of the phone, Yun Shifei hadn’t heard a peep from Xu Yuejiao for ages and couldn’t help but ask out of concern.
"Give me a moment, Feifei. I need to process this reality," Xu Yuejiao finally muttered weakly, her voice so faint and pitiful, it seemed as though she was even sadder than Yun Shifei herself.
"Feifei, are you really saying there’s no chance at all with that guy?" Xu Yuejiao pressed on, unwilling to give up.
"Maybe there is," Yun Shifei couldn’t help but say tofort Xu Yuejiao. How odd—why was she the oneforting Xu Yuejiao over her own feelings?
"That’s good then. Feifei, even if you don’t end up with that guy, make sure your future boyfriend is at least better than him, okay?"
Yun Shifei: "..."
"I don’t even know why I feel so heartbroken knowing you can’t end up with that boy."
Probably because you’re the OG fan of our ship, Yun Shifei thought wryly.
After chatting with Xu Yuejiao for a while longer, Yun Shifei hung up the phone.
Her thoughts drifted back to what she’d said to Xu Yuejiao earlier—that there might still have been a chance between her and Cheng Lie.
But that chance was so, so slim that even she wasn’t holding out much hope anymore.
The distance between them felt like the gulf of an entire gxy. She’d have to try so very hard, harder than ever, just to reach him.
Maybe one day, she’d get the chance to stand beside him.
However, by then, if she met him again, she might not even confess her feelings. She’d only want to clear up the questions that had been lingering for so long.
Like whether he was truly autistic or just pretending.
Or what exactly that earlier hug and kiss had meant.
Back when she had roughly guessed the reason behind them, she’d been furious. But the more she thought about it, perhaps Cheng Lie had been in an impossiblyplicated situation back then.
Considering his position within the Cheng Family, if he hadn’t feigned illness, who knows if he could’ve even survived?
So she wouldn’t pester him with unreasonable anger; she’d just ask for rity.
Though, whether there would ever be such an opportunity was anybody’s guess.
After ending the call with Xu Yuejiao, Yun Shifei nced at the pile of White Rabbit candies in the corner.
She noticed something amiss and quickly walked over. The packaging bag had been torn open, candies were scattered everywhere, and a few wrappersy on the floor, visibly chewed up.
Yun Shifei’s eyes moved to her mischievous pet, who was happily ying with a ball nearby.
The pet, sensing Yun Shifei’s gaze, looked up with innocent, wide eyes.
"Did you eat these?" Yun Shifei pointed to the candy wrappers on the ground.
Upon hearing her, the pet stopped ying with its toy, sitting up straight.
"Was it you?" Yun Shifei stared down at her pet sternly.
The creature frowned, nced at her nervously, then quickly dropped its gaze to the floor.
This little rascal—it was practically sentient!
Yun Shifei sighed in frustration.
Just from its guilty demeanor, it was clear that it had been up to no good.
She wasn’t entirely sure if the candies were safe, having been left in a corner even with their packaging intact. Yet the pet had managed to sniff them out and eat some!
After mulling it over, Yun Shifei gently patted her pet on the head. "If you die, I’ll bury your favorite toy beside you."
The pet barked unhappily, as though protesting Yun Shifei’s words.
But Yun Shifei was dead serious. This greedy little creature nevercked snacks, so why was it still so insatiable? It was driving her crazy.
Hopefully, the candies were non-toxic.
Thankfully, the next day, the pet was just as lively as ever.
Except, the next day, that man came by again.
This time, he left a bouquet of flowers for Yun Shifei.
He didn’t even show up in front of her—just rang the doorbell, left the flowers at the doorstep, and walked away.
Staring at the dew-kissed petals, Yun Shifei was speechless: "..."
Romantic? Sure. But there was something undeniably strange about it.
On the third day, he came by yet again—this time leaving a box of choctes at the door.
On the fourth day.
Zhao Pan carried a box of cake toward the Yun Family’s door, thinking to himself, Just one more day of this mission and I’m done. He’d have to travel to the neighboring city, so there’d be no time for delivery anymore.
God knew how much torment he’d gone through being forced to deliver these items over the past few days.
Even though he was the one dropping off the gifts, he felt as though he were a thief—sneaking around to deliver something before quickly retreating.
Throughout his entire professional career, he’d never had to do anything so sketchy and sneaky!
Today, as usual, he scoped out the surroundings first.
Good, no one seemed to be around.
He briskly walked to the Yun Family’s door with the cake, pressed the doorbell, and prepared to leave swiftly.
But today, footsteps suddenly sounded behind him.
