Chapter 295: 285: Qiao Jing Goes to the Bar, Coincidentally Meets Zhan Qipei

Chapter 295: Chapter 285: Qiao Jing Goes to the Bar, Coincidentally Meets Zhan Qipei

Lu Zijiao looked at the table where two bottles of red wine were already empty, and wondered, Zhan Qipei actually still wanted to keep drinking?

His gaze shifted from the wine bottle back to Zhan Qipei, thoughtfully stroking his chin.

“Could it be, you two had a fight?”

Otherwise, how could Zhan Qipei possibly not be at home with his wife and instead be here drinking?

Zhan Qipei’s action of drinking paused for a moment, his eyebrows knitted together as he filled his empty ss with wine.

    “We didn’t fight.”

    ...

Lu Zijiao stared at Zhan Qipei with a skeptical look, trying to see if he was lying.

But that perennially unchanging ice-cold face of the other party was such that even if he looked for a century, he wouldn’t see any sign.

“If you didn’t fight, then why aren’t you at home with her, drinking sullenly here alone?”

Zhan Qipei swirled his ss, his dark eyes ncing at Lu Zijiao.

    “Indeed, we didn’t fight.”

Lu Zijiao didn’t believe those words one bit, he knew all too well that Zhan Qipei would cling to Qiao Jing for practically twenty-four hours a day, and now he was here drinking alone?

“Tell me about it, maybe I can give you some advice. I don’t believe you didn’t fight. I know what you’re like,” insisted Lu Zijiao.

Zhan Qipei took another swig of his drink, his chest heaving slightly, and his deep voice rang out.

“It’s not a fight. When I got home, I found something on my desk.”

Lu Zijiao’s curiosity was instantly piqued, and he asked eagerly, “What thing?”

What could have made Zhan Qipeie here to drink sullenly—is it that serious?

Zhan Qipei said gravely, “Divorce agreement, Qiao Jing signed it.”

Lu Zijiao immediately sucked in a breath of cold air, thinking, my goodness, that’s even more terrifying than a fight.

No wonder Zhan Qipei looked so awful and sat here drinking his sorrows away, but why on earth did Qiao Jing draft that divorce agreement all of a sudden?

He began to press for answers.

“What’s really going on? There must be a reason for this. Did you do something that upset Qiao Jing?”

Zhan Qipei hesitated, ced the ss on the table, and listened as Lu Zijiao continued.

Seeing Zhan Qipei’s obliviousness, Lu Zijiao formed a hypothesis in his mind.

“I guess you did something that made her angry, but you’re unaware of it.

It’s just like my mom and dad fighting; often it’s my mom silently fuming while my dad doesn’t know what he’s done to upset her.”

Upon hearing this, Zhan Qipei thought it made sense. He smoothed his misty long brows and began thinking hard about whether he had done something to anger Qiao Jing.

He leaned back on the couch, arms crossed, recalling the recent events with Qiao Jing, but it seemed he hadn’t done anything out of line.

Seeing Zhan Qipei’s troubled expression, Lu Zijiao started to offer advice.

“Don’t bother trying to remember; you won’t be able to. Men can never guess what annoys a woman, just like my dad—he can never guess why my mom gets angry.”

“The saying ‘a woman’s heart is as unfathomable as the ocean’s bottom’ isn’t untrue. I think you’re better off just asking her directly or doing something to make her happy and appease her.”

Zhan Qipei’s furrowed brows rxed, and he began to reflect on himself.

He should not be out here but should have gone back earlier to ask Qiao Jing directly, and then buy some gifts to cheer her up.

He had to rify this matter, no matter what.

Zhan Qipei also realized he was avoiding the issue, and acknowledged that this approach was utterly wrong.

He stood up, noticing that his coat had wrinkles, and subconsciously smoothed it out with his hand.

“Put the drinks on my tab. You keep having fun,” he said.

As soon as Lu Zijiao heard this, he knew that Zhan Qipei was nning to head home. He immediately stood up, blocking his way.

“You’ve been home with your wife all this time, and you rarelye out when we call you. Now that you’ve finally made it out, it’s just past ten o’clock. Can’t you at least stay out until half-past eleven before going back?”

Zhan Qipei was more eager to get home and resolve the issue with Qiao Jing, trying to sidestep Lu Zijiao.

Lu Zijiao stood in front of Zhan Qipei, continuing to speak.

“Besides, if you go back now, Qiao Jing might still be fuming. Seeing you might make her even angrier, which would just make things worse, wouldn’t it?”

“It’s better to let her cool down first. By the time you go back, everything might have blown over. If there’s still an issue, you can just coax her a bit.”

Zhan Qipei hesitated, preferring to address issues immediately rather than letting them linger.

But what Lu Zijiao said wasn’t without reason, and Zhan Qipei’s steps halted.

Seeing this, Lu Zijiao knew he had a chance, pulling Zhan Qipei back to their booth to sit down.

“Trust me on this. My dad was the same way. Right after an argument, he would go straight to my mom, but instead of pacifying her, it only made her angrier.

Then my dad would go out to cool off for a while, and by the time he came back, my mom would be singing by herself, pletely happy, and all the problems would have vanished.”

    He spoke with utter conviction.

“Believe me, based on my years of observing my parents, this strategy is foolproof.”

Finally, Zhan Qipei settled down, persuaded.

Lu Zijiao opened a bottle for himself. With years of witnessing his parents’ dynamics, he hadpletely figured out his mother’s personality—a little cooling off, and any issue could be resolved.

    At another booth.

Wu Xirui and a few friends were sitting together, drinking.

A group of dissolute young men huddled together, with the bar’s most expensive beers arranged on the table.

Young Master Liu opened a bottle of Ace of Spades to wash his hands, then opened a bottle of Brandy, topping up everyone else’s sses.

Wu Xirui’s slender fingers rhythmically tapped on the table, the other hand leisurely swaying his ss, his peach blossom eyes squinting merrily as he watched everyone.

After taking a sip of his drink, Young Master Liu felt the booth was a bit boring with just the guys.

“Why don’t we call over a few pretty girls to have some fun?”

Young Master Wang showed a mischievous smirk, pping his hands in agreement.

    “Sounds good.”

Wu Xirui took a drink and slowly spoke.

    “Not interested.”

Young Master Liu thought Wu Xirui was just being coy—after all, what man doesn’t like women?

He grew excited, taking out his phone to make arrangements.

“Since we’re all out to have a good time, let’s do it right. I’ll get three beauties to join us for some fun.”

Before long, three girls approached Young Master Liu.

They wore bikinis with a sheer coat over them, fis stockings on their legs, and were sprayed with a strong perfume—an obvious sign of flirtatious nature.

The leader of the trio leaned against Young Master Liu, cing her hands on the man’s chest and speaking in a coquettish voice.

“Young Master Liu, how much booze are you ordering today?”

Young Master Liu whistled and casually pinched the woman, saying with a cheeky smile.

“Depends on your performance. The prettiest one among you, go take care of Fifth Master.”

Another woman consciously moved to Young Master Wang’s side.

Young Master Wang immediately opened a bottle of Ace of Spades and poured it over the woman’s body.
