Alex looked at Ronald condescendingly. "Mypany doesn''t coborate with ungrateful people."
"What do you mean?"
"The Watsons have already found out the real reason Pauline went mad. They''re on their way now."
"What?" Ronald''s face turned pale with fear. "The... Watsons... It wasn''t me! I didn''t drive her insane. It was Jolene who did. She found Pauline and lied to her, saying she was pregnant-that''s the real reason!"
"Save those words for the Watsons." Alex kicked away Ronald, who was clutching his pant leg, before turning to leave.
I shot Jolene a challenging re. "The Watsons won''t let you off."
"It wasn''t me!" With her face full of panic, she took a few steps back. "I just wanted them to divorce."
Alex took my hand. "Let''s go. We''ll find another ce to eat. Let''s leave this ce to the Watsons."

We switched to another restaurant. Just as we arrived at the entrance, Alex''s
phone rang. How timely.
"What?" He answered the call and frowned slightly. "Alright, got it."
"What''s wrong?" I asked, looking at him.
"Something''s going on at the
"No, no, it''s okay." I quickly returned it to him. "It''s just a meal. L and I will handle it ourselves."
His car disappeared into the distance, and his figure faded into the crowd. Out of nowhere, I felt somewhat lonely.
"Hey." Leaning against me, L gave my chest a smack. "What a shame, huh? All dolled up for nothing."
How presumptuous of her. Feeling exposed, I smacked her on the head. "What are you overthinking about?"
"Am I the one overthinking?" She gazed at me slyly as if she had seen through me. "Or is it you?"
