"Do you need my help?" Alex raised an eyebrow slightly.
I sighed deeply. "Can youe half an hourter tomorrow evening?"
He gave me a meaningful look, then nodded.
...
The next day, I arrived at the restaurant early to wait for Alex. Alongside me was L, who insisted oning along.
"Hey, I have to ask." L stared at the menu as she inched closer to me, lowering her voice. "You''re here for revenge. Is it really necessary to dress up so nicely?"
I adjusted my yellow dress. It was something I had bought for my graduation party.
I ran my finger through my voluminous, curled hair and touched up my lipstick with
a mirror. "I''m not just here for revenge. We''re also having a meal, aren''t we?"
L narrowed her eyes, looking at me as a mischievous smile yed on her lips.
"Okay, fine." I nudged her yfully with a smile. "Well... Alex will be here too. I don''t want to always look so in in front of him."
We waited in the restaurant for quite a while before Jolene and Elena finally arrived.
"Elena, this is the private restaurant I told you about." Jolene was wearing a sexy strappy dress. "Ronald''s friend, Mr. Campbell, is a huge fan of this ce."
Elena was in a white Chanel-inspired outfit, still ying the role of the pure, innocent flower. Hearing Jolene''s words, she smiled shyly. "Jolene, thank you for introducing me to a rich businessman."
But the moment she saw me, the two women''s facade crumbled just like that. "Serena? What are you doing here?" Elena''s expression darkened immediately. "Serena, you dare show up where I am?" Jolene was extremely smug, with her arms crossed over her chest in a superior pose.
"I''m here to eat. Why are you so worked up?" I closed the menu and gave the two of them a cold look.
"Why are they worked up?" L crossed her arms, her tone dripping with sarcasm as she said, "Well, it''s probably because they''re having a group outing as mistresses. It''s only natural for them to panic after
bumping into you, right?"
I found L''s bratty attitude amusing, but Jolene and Elena were both seething
with anger.
"What nonsense are you talking about?" Jolene snapped.
"You guys
should know full well if I''m
speaking nonsense or not." L casually flipped through the menu "Can''t you two do something with your lives and be good functioning members of society? Why be mistresses?"
"You..." Jolene was still as easy to annoy as ever.
"Jolene, I''m sorry." Elena began to put on her pity act. "L and I had some past conflicts because of Serena, and this time, she dragged you into it."
"It''s not your fault." Jolene turned to face her. "They''re both lunatics. Let''s just ignore them."
"Serena, I know you hate me, but if you''re going to say something, please don''t drag Jolene into it," Elena said, her expression full of feigned innocence. "She didn''t do anything to provoke you."
"Is that so?" I raised an eyebrow, standing up and walking over to Elena. "Didn''t provoke me, you say? Then who were the three people ?n Maplewoods'' underground parking lot? And how did you make their acquaintance?"
At the sound of my words, Elena''s face turned as white as a sheet.
"Serena, what are you babbling about?" Jolene, being the experienced businesswoman she was, immediately retorted. "What are you talking about? We have no intention of doing anything to you!"
