    "Ling’er, please, I had no choice, I didn’t want to betray the Xu Family either," Qu Ling begged as he looked at Xu Lingling with pleading eyes.


    Xu Lingling snorted coldly and delivered a kick to Qu Ling’s stomach. How could she possibly save him when she wished she could kill him right now?

    Xu Lingling gave Qu Ling a mocking nce, "What use is it to keep him alive?"

    "You mean let him be a spy for our Xu Family?" Xu Lingling considered for a moment before asking.


    Song Yan Ning nodded slightly, then whispered a few sentences into Xu Lingling’s ear. She had not activated any shielding formation, which meant that Qu Ling could hear what was being said.


    "This idea is brilliant! You’re so clever!" Xu Lingling eximed excitedly.


    Qu Ling looked at Song Yan Ning with a trace of fear in his eyes. Indeed, a woman’s heart is the most poisonous. But did he even have a choice now? As a Level 5 Alchemy Master, he knew as soon as he took the elixir that he couldn’t concoct an antidote.


    In the drawing room, the seemingly rxed atmosphere wasced with tension.


    "May I know what brings the three of you to the Xu Family today?" Xu Pingfeng sipped his tea before cing the cup on the side table.


    "We were merely passing time and came over to have a chat with Family Head Xu," Family Head Yan said cheerfully.


    "I heard that the Family Head Xu is short of an alchemist for thepetition. How about this, I happen to have two fine alchemists that I could lend to Family Head Xu," Family Head He said smilingly, with an amiable expression. If not for the mocking look in his eyes, one might think he sincerely wanted to help Xu Pingfeng.


    "Family Head He, this is akin to cheating in front of us, hahaha..." Family Head Zhaoughed heartily. They hade today for the map, and if Qu Ling could get it, then the Xu Family would no longer matter.


    "Thank you for your kindness, Family Head He, but I have already found my alchemist," Xu Pingfeng said, giving Family Head He a formal gesture. He knew they hade today to humiliate him, but what choice did he have other than to endure?

    No sooner had Xu Pingfeng left than Qu Ling approached, offering a bow to the three, and said to Family Head Yan, "Family Head, I have something I would like to report to you privately."


    Family Head Yan nodded and turned to Family Head Zhao and Family Head He with an apologetic look. "Please excuse me for a moment. I’ll be right back."


    A hint of displeasure shed through the eyes of Family Head He and Family Head Zhao.


    "Family Head Yan, we had an agreement. If we got the map, we agreed to search together."


    "Of course!" Family Head Yan swept an annoyed nce at Qu Ling. Couldn’t he have waited until returning to the Yan family?


    "Qu Ling, did you get the map?" Family Head Zhao asked directly.


    Qu Ling looked at Family Head Yan, uncertain.


    Family Head Yan gave him a stern look and nodded slightly. He was in a cooperative rtionship with both the He and Zhao families and couldn’t afford to offend either one.
