Chapter 117

Chapter 117. San Jose Police Station.

Chapter 117: San Jose Police Station.

Ivy was stunned at the confusion on Theresa''s face but she shook it off, She wasn''t buying it.

"What do you mean by that?" Ivy demanded, keeping her voice low despite the anger in it.

Theresa sighed and gestured to the seat opposite hers. "Can you please sit?"

Ivy eyed the chair before sitting down. "I am not falling for your act, T. Tell me the truth."

Theresa exhaled, leaning forward. "I swear, Ivy, I don''t know what you''re talking about."

Ivy narrowed her eyes. "But you admitted to cheating yesterday."

"With Hector, not Derek," Theresa admitted with a sigh. "I have no idea who Derek is."

Ivy blinked, not knowing what to process first as Theresa''s confession settled inside her. "Wait, Hector? The hiking instructor?"

Theresa''s cheeks flushed as she looked away. "It was stupid... I should never have called him." Then she raised her head, looking at Ivy. "I have deleted his number already, before anything happened. I am telling you the truth."

Ivy sank into the chair, her head racing. "Did you or did you not sleep with whoever?"

"I didn''t," Theresa pressed her lips together. "But God I wanted to," she sighed, burying her head in her palm. "Though I pleasured myself with his picture."

"Theresa!" Ivy eximed in disgust. "I didn''t have to hear that."

"I know," she said softly. "But I already promised to tell you everything."

"Oh God," Ivy groaned. "But why did you imply that you cheated?"

"Because I did," Theresa said and then looked away again. "You... you don''t think of another man when you''re married, let alone masturbate to his name."

"Ahhh," Ivy groaned again, her stomach stirring with confusion.

She stood up, her heart pounding wildly. "I need some air." And before Theresa could speak she went outside.

From the corner of her eyes, she saw Bud and Sylvia in a deep conversation.

Ivy stepped outside, allowing the evening breeze to cool her nerves. There was so much to uncover, and the fact that she had made a mistake, possibly using Theresa wrongly, made all the matter worse.

She bit her lip and began to pace around, hoping that would ease her. After a moment of pacing back and forth with her fingernails in her mouth, Ivy finally felt better.

With a deep breath, she made her way back inside the restaurant. Theresa was lost in thoughts and she jumped when Ivy sat down.

"I am sorry for reacting that way," she said apologetically.

"I don''t me you." Theresa gave a dry smile. "That was too much. I should have

told you before Hector did. I''m sorry."

Ivy''s brows knitted together. "Hector didn''t tell me anything."

Theresa''s mouth twisted in surprise. "Then how did you know?"

"I didn''t." Ivy shook her head. "I only attacked you because I thought you were sleeping with Derek."

    "Who the hell is Derek?"

"My cousin''s baby daddy, but now I don''t understand the situation anymore," Ivy admitted as she leaned into the chair.

"I didn''t sleep with anybody," Theresa''s voice sharpened. "I only flirted with Hector and I-"

"I believe you," Ivy said urgently, reaching for her hand. "I''m so sorry foring at you like that."

"You didn''t know, it''s okay," Theresa smiled.

Regret swirled in Ivy''s chest as she squeezed Theresa''s hands. "It''s not in my ce to judge you and I apologize."

Theresa''s smile broadened. "It''s okay Ivy. It really is."

    "Thank you."

"Ladies," Sylvia said, approaching them. "Sorry I''m justing over. I was... busy." She giggled and her cheeks flushed." What would you like to have?"

"What do you suggest for a meal at this hour?" Ivy asked her.

"Okay," Sylvia smiled like she was grateful her opinion was important. "You could have steak and mashed potatoes, some grilled salmon with vegetables, roasted chicken with rice-"

Chapter 117. San Jose Police Station

"Sounds so good." Theresa chimed in.

*-some tomato soup with some garlic bread, we also have some pizza as well

Ivy''s stomach growled loudly. "I would have the steak and mashed potatoes. And you?" She asked Theresa

"The roasted chicken and rice, please.” Theresa replied.

"And the drink? Wine? Juices?" Sylvia asked

    "Water is fine." Ivy replied.

    "Same," Theresa said as well.

“Alright. Be right back,” Sylvia smiled and walked away.

Theresa and Ivy went silent for a while before Theresa spoke. “Do you think I should tell Wills... about... Hector?

"I really don''t know," Ivy answered honestly. She didn''t think she was in the position to tell Theresa want to do.

"I feel so terrible," Theresa groaned, leaning into the chair. "The guilt has been eating me up for days and I just needed to tell someone."

"Sorry dear," Ivy said, giving Theresa a small smile.

"Thank you," Theresa smiled, but then her smile faded. "Wait, why would your cousin assume I''m sleeping with her baby daddy?"

Theresa''s question sank into Ivy''s head as she pondered. "Maybe she mistook you for someone else?"

But even she didn''t believe that. Rita had recognized Theresa the instant she saw her. And the name on the receipt? Ivy had no idea how it could have been a mistake.

"Maybe," Theresa said, but she didn''t believe it either.

Before either of them could speak further, Sylvia returned with their food. "Here you go," she said, ying each te in front of them. "I''ll be back with the water, she said, left and returned with two sses of water. "Enjoy."

    "Thank you," Theresa smiled.

"Thank you, Sylvia, Ivy smiled as Sylvia nodded and left.

As soon as Ivy was about to dig in, her phone rang. With a frown, she reached for

it and found out it was Ss calling.

Guilt seeped inside her. She had left him for nothing only to realize it was a mistake.

    "Hey," she answered.

"Are you still busy with Theresa?" Ss asked, his voice calm.

    "Yes, what''s up?"

"They found the guys that vandalized your building. The police want you to identify

    them."

Her heart leapt. "Oh. Okay. Right now?"

"Yes, should Ie pick you up?" Ss asked.

"No, no. I''lle on my own," she said, already standing up. "Just send me the

    address."

"Alright, see you there." Ss said and ended the call.

"What happened?" Theresa said, standing up too."Are you okay?"

"Yes," Ivy said quickly. "My building got vandalized today, but the police got

involved. Ss just called me, I got to go."

Confusion etched on Theresa''s face but she nodded. "Alright."

"I''m really sorry, T. I will call you," Ivy said, giving Theresa a quick hug and a kiss

    on the cheek.

"Alright dear. Take care, Theresa said.

Ivy waved and gestured to Bud who immediately ran to her. She paid the bills and waved at Sylvia. Together with Bud, she made her way to the car.

"Where are we going, ma''am?" Bud asked.

Ivy unlocked her phone and checked the message Ss sent. "San Jose police station."

"Alright, ma''am, Bud said and started the car.

She wasn''t able to process her conversation with Theresa because of her anxiety as they proceeded to the station. And Ss had used ''them'', meaning there were more than one. She didn''t know whether to be grateful or to be scared.

Bud got to the police station and parked the car just outside the gate. Together they walked inside, almost running. "Hello," Ivy greeted the first officer she saw. "I''m here-"

"Mrs Stone." The officer grinned, his face lighting up in recognition. "They are waiting for you mm"

Ivy nodded and followed him through a hallway that led to an inner room. Inside, Ss was seated with a detective in in

    clothes

"Hey, Ss smiled at her, gesturing to the seat beside him

    "Hey,'' she replied

The detective spoke into a tiny microphone. "Mrs Stone is in the building"

Ivy turned her head, looking around. They were behind a two-way mirror, and she could see three men in another room with two other officers beside them

The detective turned to her. "Mrs Stone, can you identify any of these men?"

Ivy took a closer look at the men, studying them carefully. She had never seen any of them before. "No" she said, shaking her head. "They don''t look familiar."

Beside her, Ss sat forward. Ask them who sent them."

The detective pressed a button and his voice filled the room. "Who sent you?"

The men hesitated but finally spoke. Ivy listened as they described the man that sent them.

Dark hair, beard, older, ck eyes.

Ivy shook her head again, disbelief running through her. "That doesn''t sound like Mason."

The room went silent. But, before anybody else could speak, her phone rang. She nced at the screen, her brow furowing An unknown number was calling.

Out of curiosity, she picked. "Hello?"

"Ivy?!" The response was sharp and it made Ivy''s stomach clench. "It''s Rita. Help

    me Ivy, please!
