hapter 109: The Courthouse.
Ss locked his phone and ced it on the table, his heart breaking with the realization that fvy wasn''t going to reply to his messages. She was still angry, and he couldn''t even me her, she had every reason to be
He picked his bottle of vodka and poured into the ss, feeling tired from a restless night. He had slept in one of his quest rooms, away from Ivy''s touch, and with that, and thinking about Thomas, he couldn''t sleep well
Thinking about it now, it was really dumb of him to bring Kim home. He could have taken her to a hotel and still provided the same constant support aspensation for her injuries.
"Toote now," he murmured, taking another sip.
There was a knock on his door and he looked up. "Come in"
Mrs Harris entered with a smile. "Good morning Mr Stone. The new candidate is outside."
"Okay," he said tly, pouring more vodka in his ss.
"Should I ask him toe in now?" Mrs Harris asked.
"Sure."
"Your meeting with Metro Stores has been shifted to next week. The CFO said he tried to reach out to you yesterday, but you weren''t avable."
"I left my phone here," he said, gesturing to his desk.
His actions from yesterday were still haunting him. The fact that out of fear and haste he had forgotten his phone behind, thereby leaving Ivy''s messages
unanswered made the whole situation with Kim more serious than it should have been.
"Alright sir, should I text him for a reschedule or next week is fine?" Mrs Harris asked.
"Next week is fine, just acknowledge the meeting," he told her. "And bring in the new guy."
"Yes sir," Mrs Harris said, before leaving the office.
Shortly after, a man walked in. He was dressed in a blue shirt and ck trousers and held a brown envelope. Ss put his bottle and ss away and smiled.
"Please have a seat," he said, gesturing for him to sit opposite his desk.
"Thank you sir," the man said and sat down.
Ss leaned forward. "Introduce yourself."
"I am Tyler," he said, pushing the brown envelope forward. "I am 29 years old and
I would love to be your personal assistant."
Ss assessed Tyler as he opened the envelope. "What are your experiences? Have you worked as a personal assistant before?"
"Yes," Tyler replied. "I used to work..."
But Ss zoned out of the conversation as he read the young man''s resume. Nothing looked out of ce, and Tyler seemed to be confident.
Plus he was a straight man which was a plus.
"Did Mrs Harris tell you what the job requires?" Ss asked.
"Yes, she did," Tyler responded with a nod.
Before Ss could reply, his phone buzzed. He picked it and nced at it. Wade was calling, and that made his heart tightened.
Thomas had a court hearing that morning, and Wade''s call indicated that it was time. He stood up and shut hisptop." You are hired, Tyler. Go home, celebrate, ande back tomorrow."
Tyler''s face instantly turned red as he stood up. "Thank you so much, Mr Stone. I promise not to disappoint you."
"Yeah, yeah," Ss said, already at the door, barely listening to the other things Tyler was saying.
His heart pounded as he made his way out of the building and into his car. His phone rang again and he picked it.
"Hey Wade, I''m on my way," he replied.
"Alright," Wade said and ended the call.
"Let''s go, Vic," Ss told Victor, who started the Sessfully unlocked!
He tried to rx, but his nerves were all over the ce. When Thomas had told him about thewsuit, it had terrified him, and now, knowing they had to face a judge, he struggled to stay still.
"We are here, sir," Victor said, pulling into the Queen''s restaurant''s parking lot.
Chapter 109 the Courthous
Ss got out and spotted Wade and Thomas inside the restaurant. They had concluded to first that we do proceeding to the court
"Hey bro," Ss said, walking over and giving Thomas & hug
Thomas leaned into his arms and Sitas could tell how nervous he was
"Wade" Ss nodded at him
"Ss." Wade nodded back.
"Time to go in?" Thomas asked, his voice filled with terror
"Yes, let''s go," Wade said
Ss held his brother''s hand as they walked, with three of Thomas''s bodyguards around them. The restart was behind the courthouse, which was why Wade suggested they meet there so as to avoid the press as they made their way in But unfortunately for them, they were spotted before they could even get in. Journalists flooded them, leg the mics, asking questions.
"What do you have to say about this, Mr Stone?"
"Are these usations correct?"
"What is your rtionship with Patricia Josh?"
The bodyguards got to work, shielding them from the madness. Once they got
inside, Thomas signed sharply. That was intense."
Ss gave his hand a soft squeeze, forting him. "You''ve got this."
Thomas nodded and gave him a hug.
"We are going into room 1,” Wade said, turning to Ss. “I am not sure you can go
in with us."
"That''s okay. I''ll wait outside till you''re done," Ss said with a smile.
"Thank you, Si, Thomas said, hugging him again.
"Be strong, don''t let them get to you," Ss whispered in his brother''s ear
Thomas gave him a gentle pat on the back before following Wade. Ss waited until they entered the room before he found a chair to sit on.
His heart pounded with dread as he pulled out his phone, wanting to call Ivy so she could put him at ease. But he changed his mind. He didn''t want to burden her with his problems.
Ss leaned back on the wooden chair, tapping his feet against the marble floor. Nothing happened for more than an hour and as the minutes passed, Ss''s dread kept multiplying.
His eyes shifted from room 1''s door to the old clock on the wall. It took all his strength not to chew his nails from anxiety. Finally the door opened and Ss sprang on his feet. His stomach twisted at the looks of Thomas and Wade''s faces. They had bad news. He could tell.
"Hey," he said, walking over to them. "How did it go?"
Wade''s eyes darted around the room. "Let''s go somewhere secure," he said, then
led them to a different room.
"Stay outside," Thomas said to his bodyguards as they all entered.
The room was empty and quiet and Ss could see Wade rx as he sat.
"What happened?" Ss asked, sitting closer to his brother. Ss''s heart shattered
as Thomas sighed and looked away." Say something," he urged.
"I don''t even know how to start," Wade admitted, cing his files on hisps. "We have to wait for Patricia''s verdict before Thomas''s case can begin."
Ss''s heart dropped. "Oh God. Why?"
"Because her case is intertwined with his. Billy''s brother, Duke, is suing Thomas for transferring Billy''s wealth to Patricia. Frank rk is suing Patricia for fraud. Since it''s the same case, we have to wait for her verdict."
"So we wait?” Ss asked, and Wade nodded. "How long are we waiting for?"
"Depends on Patricia, if she pleads guilty-months, otherwise years," Wade exined.
"Oh," Ss groaned. Now he knew why Thomas was dejected. "What would happen to Thomas before then?"
Ss''s heart pounded as he waited for Wade''s response. "Nothing, we just have
to wait."
"Fucking Mason!" Thomas spat.
Ss turned to him. "What now?"
