Chapter 784

Amara bit her lip, tempted for a moment to throw the photo Liliana had sent at Finnian, just as Elysia had hurled her phone at Dorian earlier.

But on second thought, she realized there was really no need.

Elysia and Dorian were still married; Elysia had every right to confront her husband

    that way.

But she and Finnian didn''t have any real connection-let alone a rtionship. Finnian embracing Liliana was none of her business, and she had no grounds to question him about it.

So she said coldly, "It''s nothing. I just don''t want to see you."

Finnian fixed his gaze on Amara. "Why don''t you want to see me?"

There was a hint of hurt in his voice.

What had happened? Just days ago, he could tell that Amara wasn''t as resistant toward him as before; now it felt like their rtionship had suddenly regressed by a hundred steps.

Amara shut her eyes for a moment and replied, her tone icy: "I just don''t. I don''t need a reason. Besides, didn''t I tell you before that we shouldn''t see each other anymore? You should go, Mr. Everly."

She could more or less guess why Finnian hade to the hospital-he''d probably heard from Dorian''s side that Dorian had stormed in to find Elysia and was worried something might happen between the two of them.

And Finnian really hade because of Dorian, but he hadn''t expected to run into Amara first-let alone see Amara being embraced by Keith.

He''d always known that things between Amara and Keith weren''t truly over, but knowing it and actually seeing them together were two very different things.

Finnian stared intently at Amara, his eyes trembling ever so slightly.

For someone usually so strong and self-controlled, that flicker of vulnerability was almost heartbreaking. Amara immediately lowered her head, refusing to be swayed by his look.

She kept repeating to herself how terrible he was, how many times he''d lied to her, how much pain he''d caused her...

Over and over, hardening her heart.

She took Keith''s arm, not giving Finnian a second nce, and said, "Let''s go. I don''t want to stay here anymore."

Keith knew Amara was only using him as a way to quickly shake off Finnian, and he was perfectly happy to cooperate.

He slung his arm around Amara''s shoulders, shot Finnian a cold look, and led her away.

Finnian stood rooted to the spot, silently watching their figures shrinking in the distance, unable to snap out of it for a long time.

Amara had left so decisively, with not a trace of care for him in her eyes. Just a few days ago, she had been gentle toward him.

And now she was carrying his was carrying his child,

yet she walked away with Keith without a moment''s hesitation Dig she really not care about him anymore at all?

Finnian closed his eyes, desperately trying to suppress the ache in his chest.

The more he let himself think, the worse it felt. When he finally opened his eyes, there was a new rity in his gaze.

He absolutely would not give up on Amara. Even knowing she wanted to get away from him, he had no intention of letting her go.

As soon as Amara and Keith left the

    Amara

hospital, Amara immediately began worrying about Elysia. Dorian had

    confronted Elysia so aggressive

and Elysia still wasn''t recovered from her surgery-if they argued, would Elysia be able to handle it?

    Yel

Thinking about that possibility left Amara uneasy. After quickly saying something to

Keith, she turned and went back to look for Elysia.

Back in the hospital room, Dorian

    Finnian wasn''t there

    was gaysia sate

    either Only on

hospital bed, staring nkly out the window, lost in thought.

    "Ely, what happened just now?"

Amara walked over to her, her voice filled with concern.
