Amara let out a cold snort. "I don''t need your help, Mr. Everly. I can take care of him myself. You can just pretend he doesn''t exist."
As soon as he heard this, Finnian''s face darkened.
"Amara, don''t talk like that."
He could ept Amara hitting or yelling at him, but he couldn''t bear it when she tried to draw a line between them.
He came closer to her, and his tone softened noticeably. "Amara, I know I''ve hurt you in so many ways. I know you must hold a lot of resentment toward me, but could you give me a chance? I''ll treat you right.”
"And... don''t you want our child to have a whole family? The three of us, living together. I''ll take good care of you both..."
His voice was almost hypnotic, and he leaned in so close his lips nearly brushed her
ear.
A warm gust of breath tickled her, making her ear itch strangely. The whole side of her face turned red, definitely from the heat, she told herself.
She stepped back until her back pressed against the wall. "Mr. Everly, please don''t try to convince me with that. I don''t believe a family has to have both parents to beplete. As long as a child is surrounded by love, that''s aplete family."
"I''ll love my child with all my heart, and I have the resources to give him a good life. In every way, emotionally and financially, I can raise him myself. You don''t need to worry."
Her tone was firm-leaving absolutely no room for negotiation.
She thought Finnian would get angry after hearing that, but instead, he sighed and crouched down in front of her.
Amara jumped, trying to shrink back, but she had already backed up as far as she could.
Her whole body tensed. Why was Finnian crouching in front of her?
She quickly understood. Hisrge hand rested gently on her ever-so-slightly rounded belly, and he sighed. "Little one, your mommy doesn''t want your daddy anymore. Your poor daddy."
Amara was speechless.
Flustered and angry, her face turned bright red as she pped Finnian''s hand away. “What nonsense are you spouting? There''s no ''mommy and daddy he only has mother no father! How can you be shameless?"
She was honestly stunned by his behavior today.
Finnian used to be a cold, distant person-he hardly ever bothered responding to anyone. Now here he was crouched in front of her, saying absurd things. Her frustration was mingled with a helplessness she couldn''t shake.
Finnian stood up. "Don''t be upset, Amara. I really hope you''ll reconsider me."
"I care deeply about you, and I love you. From now on, I''ll treat you well. Whatever you wish for, I''ll do my best to fulfill it. I''ll protect you from anyone who tries to hurt you please just think about it will you?
Finnian''s fingers slowly reached out and gently grazed Amara''s soft cheek.
His voice was low and rich, with that unmistakable mature allure, making Amara''s heart race and her ears tingle.
But she forced herself to stay calm—she refused to be swayed by this man.
"Mr. Everly, let''s not talk about this anymore. Please, just leave. I need to rest soon."
She turned her head aside, not daring to look at him as she hurried him out.
She could feel Finnian''s gaze lingering on her, but she didn''t dare meet his eyes for fear he''d see how flustered she really was.
