Finnian left the hotel and got into his car, but he couldn''t bring himself to drive away.

    He felt utterly lost.


    Amara was over four months pregnant now. Four months ago, something significant had happened to him as well-he''d been drugged at a business dinner,e home to the old family estate in a daze, and ended up spending the night with a woman. That woman was Liliana.


    His grandmother was still alive at the time and had always been especially fond of Liliana, often inviting her over for dinner, so it wasn''t unusual for Liliana to be at the Everly family home.


    So, that night, he had been with Liliana and hadn''t had any contact with Amara. Yet Amara''s pregnancy dated back to that same period... Could there be some connection?


    Finnian opened his calendar, checking the date he''d been drugged. He then messaged Will, asking him to look into what Amara had been doing that day.


    After putting his phone down, Finnian didn''t want to go home or anywhere else. He just wanted to stay right here, keeping watch over Amara, even though she had no idea he was nearby.


    He ended up spending the entire night in his car. He dozed off for a couple of hours at most, but never really slept well.


    All night, he drifted in and out of strange, fragmented dreams-Amara looking at him with cold indifference, then Amaraughing and chatting with him, warm and gentle...


    The next morning, Finnian checked his phone and saw a message from Will: "Mr. Everly, I''ve found the information you asked for."


    "We''re not sure what Ms. Sullivan did in the morning, but in the afternoon, director Cedric Zade called her in to revise a script."


    "ording to security footage, Ms. Sullivan arrived at a coffee shop around three in the afternoon. She sat down with Director Zade, and they worked on the script together until evening."


    It had been so long ago that Finnian''s memory of that day''s timeline was fuzzy. When exactly did everything happen to him?


    He remembered having lunch out that day and being drugged then, which meant he must have been with Liliana during the afternoon.


    So, while he was with Liliana at the Everly family''s old house that afternoon, Amara was at a coffee shop with Cedric. They hadn''t even seen each other that day...


    The more Finnian thought about it, the more the timeline didn''t add up, and a dull ache started in his head.


    He let out a weary sigh. Why was he obsessing over this? Even if Amara hadn''t done anything that day and had just stayed home the person who had rescued him was Liliana...


    A sense of hopelessness settled over Finnian as he watched the first pale light creep across the sky, his mood growing heavier.


    Over an hourter, Amara, Elysia, and Tina exited the hotel. As soon as they stepped outside, they spotted Finnian''s car.


    Finnian was leaning against the door, watching Amara. She stopped in her tracks, feeling a surge of resignation.


    He was still wearing the same clothes from yesterday, his eyes bloodshot-clearly, he hadn''t slept at all, Held stayed outside the hotel all night. Why would he do this?


    Amara had been angry with Finnian, but seeing him looking so worn down, she couldn''t help but feel a twinge of sympathy.


    After a moment''s thought, she asked Elysia and Tina to wait for her, then walked over to Finnian.


    Finnian hadn''t expected Amara to approach him on her own. He straightened up, unable to hide the hope in his eyes. "You''re up... Did you sleep well?"


    Amara nodded. "I''m fine."


    After this brief exchange, she got right to the point.


    "Mr. Everly, the reason Tina kept looking at you yesterday is because you''re the head of the Everly family She was hoping your could help help her get out from under Mrs. Emma Everly''s control. That''s the only reason she kept looking at you-nothing more."
