After saying this, she gently removed Finnian''s hand from hers and slowly made her way upstairs.
She could feel his gaze lingering on her back, which made her ufortable. It wasn''t until she closed the door to her room that she finally felt some relief.
Amara recalled the look on Finnian''s face just now. His expression had been unreadable, but she thought she sensed a hint of sadness. Was it just her imagination?
She forced herself to push these pointless thoughts away.
Whether Finnian was hurt or not had nothing to do with her. Once she moved out, they would have even less to do with each other, and ideally, they wouldn''t have any contact at all.
She really didn''t want to be involved with Finnian any longer, nor did she want to be drawn into anything with Liliana and Emma.
After reading for a while in her room, Amara received a message from Keith, inviting her to meet up. She grabbed her keys and headed out to the coffee shop he had suggested.
Keith had already ordered two coffees and slid one over to her. "It''s decaf," he said. "Even though studies show that coffee is fine for pregnant women in moderation, it''s still better to be cautious. I noticed you''ve been drinking coffeetely, so I ordered you a decaf."
Amara nodded, taking a sip as she asked, "How are things going on your end? Did you and your mother argue again after I left?"
Keith nodded, his tone heavy. "We argued a bit. I got frustrated and left. She doesn''t want us to get married, but I''m not going to give in."
He reached out and took Amara''s hand, his grip firm and steady. "Don''t worry. As soon as I wrap up a few things these next days, we''ll get married. As for my parents, you don''t need to worry-I''ll handle them."
Caught off guard by Keith''s sudden grasp, Amara looked up and met his determined eyes, and her heart skipped a beat.
That strange feeling crept in again.
met
What was happening? She was the one who wanted to get married quickly for the inheritance, but it seemed like Keith was even more anxious than she was. And the way he looked at her there was Something unsettling about it...
Suddenly, she remembered what Finnian had once said about Keith having feelings
for her. Her heart thudded uneasily. Could it be true?
Amara didn''t dare stay with Keith any longer. She quickly found an excuse and left in a hurry.
She wandered aimlessly down the street until her phone rang. It was Elysia, asking if she was free and wanted toe over for a bit-Dorian wasn''t home, she added.
Amara was feeling overwhelmed and needed someone she was close to, so she agreed and headed over.
When she arrived at Elysia''s ce, she found her friend sitting on the couch, a thin nket draped over her legs. Elysia looked pale, almost sickly.
Amara hurried over. "Are you okay? What''s wrong?"
Elysia managed a faint smile. “I''ll be fine. But first, tell me about yourself. What''s been going on thesest few days? I want to hear everything."
They had been in contact recently, but had only mentioned the situation in passing, never discussing it in detail.
Now, sitting together, Amara told
Elysia everything that had
happened-from that day''s events to all that had transpired since, including herrecent meeting with Keith at the coffee shop.
Sitting beside Elysia, Amara felt lost. "Something''s off with Keith. I think he might.....”
She didn''t finish her thought, but
Elysia picked up where she left off "Do
you feel like he''s in love with
you? You''re not wrong-Keithreally. doe''s like you."
Amara''s head snapped up. “You think so too?"
