Chapter 585

Finnian, her own son, wanted to banish her to a deserted ind?

Emma was trembling with rage, pointing a finger at Finnian''s nose, but no words woulde out.

Just then, the sound ofughter drifted in from outside. It sounded like Mr. Kevin Everly and Amara, returning from an outing.

Leaning on Amara''s arm, Mr. Kevin Everly slowly made his way up the stairs, a happy smile on his face. But when he saw Finnian''s door was open and spotted Emma inside, his expression immediately soured. "What are you doing here?" he snapped. "Who let you in?"

Hadn''t he given strict orders that Emma was not to set foot in the estate? How did she get in?

A servant hurried over to exin. "Sir, Madam forced her way in just now. We couldn''t stop her."

Mr. Kevin Everly knew that as Finnian''s mother, the staff couldn''t physically restrain her if she was determined. He didn''t take it out on the servant, instead turning his anger on Emma. "Get out of my house, now. And don''te back without my permission."

    Emma felt deeply humiliated.

She was being scolded by Mr. Kevin Everly again, and this time in front of Amara. It only deepened her resentment toward both of them.

But she didn''t dare talk back to the old man. She could only shoot a venomous re at Amara before turning and leaving.

Amara waspletely baffled by the re.

Finnian was the one who got angry, and Mr. Kevin Everly was the one who kicked her out. By what logic should Emma be mad at her?

But Emma had never been one for logic. Amara let it go, continuing to quietly support Mr. Kevin Everly.

After Emma left, Mr. Kevin Everly nced at Finnian''s troubled expression. "What did your mother want? Was she here to argue with you again? What was it about?"

Finnian answered truthfully, "She wanted me to get a marriage license with Liliana. I told her I wasn''t going to, and she lost it."

Mr. Kevin Everly was stunned. Had he heard correctly? Finnian didn''t want to legally marry Liliana?

He thought his grandson was so infatuated with that actress that he was willing to give up Amara for her. If that was the case, why wouldn''t he get the license?

It wasn''t just Mr. Kevin Everly; Amara was also shocked.

If he wasn''t going to marry her, that was one thing. But to decide on a wedding and then not make it legal?

An unpleasant thought crossed her mind. Could Finnian be nning to wait until Liliana was pregnant before getting the license? She''d heard of such backward customs in some rural areas. ''

No, surely Finnian wasn''t that old-fashioned. So what was really going on?

Though both Mr. Kevin Everly and Amara were mystified by Finnian''s decision, neither wanted to meddle in his affairs with Liliana so they didn''t ask any more questions

Amara helped Mr. Kevin Everly back to his room. When she came out she saw Finnian was still in the hallway. Averting her gaze she intended to go back to her own room.

But Finnian called out to her. "Wait a minute."

Amara stopped. "Is there something you need, Mr. Everly?"

Finnian looked at her. He didn''t actually have anything to say; he just saw her and wanted to keep her there for a few more moments.

"What were you and Grandfather up to earlier?" he asked, grasping for a topic.

Amara held up the shopping bag in her hand. "I went with Grandfather to buy some clothes for the uing holidays."
