Chapter 568

If Finnian had just given her money or gifts, Amara wouldn''t have thought much of it.

After all, material things meant little to someone of his stature.

But he was spending his time and putting in so much thought for her. That was different. What was he trying to do?

Just then, Finnian suddenly asked, "Has Keith ever cooked for you?"

An immediate silence fell over the table.

Elysia and Dorian exchanged a look, then both turned to Amara with keen interest, waiting for her answer.

Amara stiffened. She answered honestly, "No."

She knew that saying "yes" would have been the best answer in this situation, but Keith had never cooked for her. If she lied now, what if she was found outter? So she told the truth.

She expected Finnian to use this to mock Keith, but instead, he said, "If you ever crave these dishes in the future, juste to me. I''ll make them for you."

Even though Elysia and Dorian were used to Finnian''s devotion to Amara, hearing such a lovelorn statement still left them speechless. It was almost like Finnian was volunteering to be the other man.

Dorian patted his friend''s shoulder and gave him a sympathetic look.

Finnian ignored him, his eyes still fixed on Amara.

    Why wasn''t she saying anything?

Did his words not move her at all?

Amara nearly buried her face in her bowl. She was sitting directly across from Finnian and could feel his searing gaze on her the entire time. After what he''d just said, she was even more flustered and didn''t know how to speak to him.

Seeing Amara so flustered, Elysia took pity on her and changed the subject. Finnian didn''t press Amara either and went back to eating.

After dinner, the four of them chatted in the living room for a while before Finnian took Amara back to the old mansion.

It was already past eight o''clock, and Mr. Kevin Everly was on the phone in his room. Not wanting to disturb the old man, Amara headed straight for her room, but Finnian stopped her on the stairs, "I want to ask you something," he said:

Amara looked down, faced with Finnian standing before her like a solid wall. "What is it?"

Finnian looked at her. "Are you really happy with Keith?"

Amara had expected him to ask the same thing as Dorian-what she loved about Keith This question was

Sch easier to answer. "I''m happy,"

    she said.

    And she was happy.

As long as she was with Keith, she could get the Sullivan Group shares. How could

she not be happy about that?

As she spoke, Finnian watched her expression closely.

He could see she wasn''t lying; she genuinely seemed happy with Keith. A pang of pain shot through his heart, But in a way he thoughts maybe this was for the best.

He said in a low voice, "As long as you''re happy, Amara."

With that, he didn''t want to stay any longer. He walked past her and strode up the stairs.

Amara stared after his retreating back, stunned.

She had expected him to say something unpleasant after her answer, but he had just left.

What was wrong with this man? She understood him less and less.

Back in her room, Amara washed up and sat down on the small sofa to read. Her phone buzzed. It was a message from Morgan.
