Chapter 559

Mr. Kevin Everly watched the two "kids" bustling around the counter, a smile in his eyes.

He had given up on the idea of Finnian and Amara getting together, but it was clear that Finn still cared a great deal for Ama.

*Oh, well. Let them sort it out themselves. It''s not like I can control them anyway,* he thought. *I''m getting old. I should just do as Ama suggested: focus on my own life and enjoy my golden years.*

Soon, all the ingredients were ready. Finnian brought out a divided hot pot, ced it on the table, and started boiling the water with the soup bases. Then it was time to eat.

Sitting around a table with family on a cold winter day, sharing a steaming hot pot, was a truly blissful experience, and Amara felt it deeply at that moment.

She wasn''t a picky eater and enjoyed both meat and vegetables. She also knew Mr. Kevin Everly''s favorites and would use her chopsticks to ce food on his te as they ate.

While she was taking care of Mr. Kevin Everly, Finnian was taking care of her.

Finnian knew she loved tofu skin and shrimp paste, so he would deliberately cook them, wrap a slice of meat inside the tofu skin along with some shrimp paste, and quietly ce it on her te.

It was a deliciousbination, but having Finnian constantly serve her was a bit embarrassing. Yet, refusing the food he prepared would be too deliberate and make things even more awkward. Amara was in a bit of a bind.

Finnian, of course, noticed her difort and stopped serving her directly. He simply told her to eat more, saying that she needed to get more nutrients now that winter was here.

Amara knew what he really meant that she needed to eat well because she was pregnant.

Hearing those words from the baby''s biological father gave her the strange illusion that they were a couple, waiting together for their child to be born.

Mr. Kevin Everly, oblivious to all this, only saw how attentively Finnian was caring for Amara. He also noticed how tactfully Finnian

    stopped when he ser

    Her

difort. It was clear his grandson''s heart was truly with Amara.

But now they were both engaged to other people, and yet he was still acting this way...

Suddenly, Mr. Kevin Everly was struck by a mischievous impulse. He decided to tease his inscrutable grandson.

"Ahem." He cleared his throat and asked, "So, Ama, how are the wedding

preparationsing along? Have you taken your engagement photos? Booked a venue?"

    Amara immediately replied,

    "Grandpa, we''re not doing

    engagement photos. Neither of us

    really

    ukes taking pictures, &

    skipping that step. We''ve already

    booked the venue, though

"Oh? Which one did you book?"

As he asked, he deliberately nced at Finnian.

His grandson had always been as sharp as a tack, with incredible self-control. If he

didn''t want you to know something, you could never pry it out of him.

He was also a master of hiding his emotions, making it nearly impossible to guess what he was thinking.

But just now, when he''d asked Ama

about the wedding, he had clearly seen a flicker of darkness in

Finnian''s eyes. Fingian was not happy and Mi Kevin Everly couldn''t help but smile to himself.

"We booked Vera Lodge," Amara replied.

Her expression didn''t change as she said it, but she felt a knot of tension in her stomach. As expected, her words were met with a moment of stunned silence.

Finnian looked incredulous. He turned his head to stare at Amara. "Vera Lodge? Isn''t that the hotel where we got married? Why would you book your wedding there?"
