Amara replied, “Whether someone is suitable or not is for the two people involved to decide. Your opinion, Mr. Everly, doesn''t count." With that, she turned and walked
away.
Watching her retreating back, Finnian''s eyes began to redden.
Did she really want to be with Morgan? Was she going to move on with another man so quickly?
Finnian knew he was the one who had moved on faster. He had no right to judge Amara. But knowing that was one thing; feeling it was another. He couldn''t stop the ache in his heart.
When Morgan got home, he handed his suit jacket to the waiting servant and
nced at his grandfather, who was reading the newspaper on the sofa. "I''m back," he said.
Mr. Bishop Sr. put down his paper and took off his reading sses. "How was that youngdy, Amara? Are you satisfied?"
"I''m very satisfied. I want to pursue her.”
Morgan took off his tie, ced it on the table, and sat down next to his grandfather, his expression serious.
Mr. Bishop Sr. let out a surprised "Oh?" "So you''ve taken a liking to her. What do you like about her? Her looks?"
Over the years, Morgan had only dated two women, and both rtionships were brief, ending in less than three months.
Each time, the woman had been the one to break up with him for the same reason: Morgan was too busy, too distant, and they couldn''t take it anymore.
So, in Mr. Bishop Sr.''s eyes, Morgan had never been particrly interested in romance; his passion was his career. But now, he seemed genuinely taken with Amara.
“Her looks are part of it, I admit,” Morgan said honestly.
Beyond her appearance, he was also drawn to her earnest and focused demeanor.
And Finnian''s appearance today had ignited hispetitive spirit. All these factorsbined had piqued his interest in Amara, a feeling he had never experienced with any other woman.
He thought back to the events of the day, his eyes narrowing slightly as a small smile yed on his lips.
Seeing his expression, Mr. Bishop Sr. chuckled and discreetly texted Morgan''s father: “Big news. Your son has his eye on a girl...”
Later that night, lying in bed, Amara opened Morgan''s WhatsApp. She saw the message he had sent an hour ago: "What are your up to?” After a moments thought, she began to type a reply.
"Mr. Bishop, Just finished getting ready for bed. It was lovely meeting you today. You''re a very well-mannered and knowledgeable. man, with a charming and witty Conversational style. I''m sure you would be a wonderful partner for someone, but I''d much prefer to be friends with you. Perhaps we''re just not meant to be. What do you think?"
After sending the message, Amara waited patiently. A reply came quickly: "Are you friend-zoning me?"
Lying in his own bed, Morgan reread Amara''s message several times. He typed out another line: "Is it because of Finnian?"
Before hitting send, he recalled the dynamic between Amara and Finnian earlier that day. It was clear Finnian had feelings for Amara, but Amara did not reciprocate. He deleted the sentence.
Instead, he wrote: “To be honest, I quite like you. I''ve met many women over the years, and you''re the most captivating one. I don''t want to give up just like that."
"I''m not saying this to pressure you. I''m just hoping you''ll give me a chance to pursue you. Is that okay?"
Amara was a bit surprised when she received the message.
Morgan actually liked her? What did he like about her? This pretty face?
She replied. "Mr. Bishop, you''re an exceptional person, and I''m ttered by your interest. But we really aren''t suited to be a couple don''t want to Waste your time. Let''s just be friend''s from now on."
