Chapter 467

"Things being the way they are... it''s not like I''m truly happy. I''m just trying my best to live with it."

Amara nodded. As long as Elysia was clear-headed, that was what mattered. Then her own thoughts turned to Finnian, and a familiar gloom settled over her. She was one hundred percent certain she didn''t want to be with him, but at the same time, she knew she wasn''tpletely over him either. That was why, every time he showed a flicker of regret or sadness, it felt like a knife in her own heart. When would this ever end?

After two more days in the hospital, Amara''s ankle finally healed, and she was cleared for discharge. Elysia and Keith were busy, so she handled the paperwork herself. Standing at the hospital entrance with her bag in hand, she felt a sudden sense of being adrift. She had given up her apartment in Maple Crest, and since Finnian now knew about the baby, there was no point in moving to Zion. It was better to stay in Wye. But where was she supposed to live?

As she stood there, hesitating, a ck luxury car pulled up in front of her. The rear door opened, revealing Mr. Kevin Everly. "Ama," he said gently, "you don''t have anywhere to go, do you? Why don''t youe stay with me for a few days?"

He already knew about the kidnapping and her injury. She had told him she was staying in Wye and would be discharged today, which was likely why he hade to pick her up. But Amara didn''t want to stay at the Everly estate. Emma and Andrew were always dropping by, and they were thest two people she wanted to see.

She was about to refuse when Mr. Kevin Everly, as if reading her mind, said, "Come home with me first. There''s something important I need to talk to you about."

The refusal died on her lips. She got into the car.

They soon arrived at the Everly estate. As Amara stepped out of the car and followed Mr. Kevin Everly into the vi, she froze. Sitting on the sofa was Finnian, but something was terribly wrong.

He was shirtless, revealing a lean, muscr torso that would normally be cause for a blush. But his chest and abdomen were wrapped inyers of bandages and blood was Seeping through in several ces. He looked as if he had been badly injured. His handsome face was unnaturally pale, the telltale sign of significant blood loss. What had happened to him? Had he been in a fight?

Amara tore her eyes away, her heart pounding, and walked inside. She

turned to Mr. Kevin Everly. "Grandfather, what happened to him?" Even though Finnian was right there, she couldn''t bring herself

    ask him directly.

Mr. Kevin Everly looked at his grandson''s injuries and sighed, taking Amara''s hand. "Remember I said I had something important to tell you? I think it''s best if you hear it from Finn himself."

With that, he turned and went upstairs, leaving the two of them alone. The servants, sensing the mood, discreetly disappeared.

    Amara''s gaze returned to the

bandages on Finnian''s body. The wounds seemed concentrated on his back and were widespread, looking less like stab wounds and more like the result of a brutal beating. Given how pale he was, the injuries had to be serious? He was the powerful CEO o a major

    Corporation. What could have

possibly led to him getting into a

    fight like this?
