Later, Amara took off her mask. As someone who cared a lot about appearances, Hogan found her much more agreeable after seeing her face. But as he thought back on all the little things between Amara and Finnian, he realized something didn''t add up.
It always seemed like Finnian was the one chasing after Amara, while Amara couldn''t have been less interested in him. But why? Finnian was good-looking, came from a distinguished family, was sharp as a tack, and had real influence— what more could she want? How was he not good enough for her? What gave her the right to look down on him?
Amara gave Hogan an odd look. "You know, your logic is pretty strange. Why should I have to like Finnian just because he''s supposedly a catch?"
She tilted her head, her gaze never wavering. "If I had to like anyone just because they were ''good,'' then what''s to stop me from leaving Finnian for someone even better if they came along?"
That shut Hogan up. He stood there, speechless, not sure how to respond.
Thankfully, Mr. Kevin Everly returned a momentter, breaking the awkward silence. He seemed oblivious to the tension, asking Hogan how he was feeling before Finnian showed up as well.
When Hogan saw Finnian, he immediately called out to him and asked about Liliana. He''d already heard about her attempted suicide.
Finnian replied, "She''s doing okay. Physically, she still needs a few days in the hospital, but once she''s better, she''lle visit you."
Because Liliana couldn''t work for the next few days, the production schedule of the film had been dyed. Cedric, the director, was practically tearing his hair out over it.
Hogan pursed his lips. If this had happened before, hearing about Liliana''s suicide attempt would have worried him sick. But ever since he found out she''d faked a pregnancy, he saw her in apletely different light. Now, he couldn''t even be sure if her suicide attempt was genuine or just another act. He found himself strangely unmoved.
Still, Finnian and Liliana seemed close, so Hogan didn''t say anything more, psing into silence.
They chatted a bit more in the hospital room before a nurse came in, insisting Hogan needed to rest. Mr. Kevin Everly, Finnian, and Amara all left together.
Back at the old manor, Mr. Kevin Everly''s mood shifted. He ordered the staff to leave, then turned to Finnian, his face thunderous with anger What exactly is going on
between you and that way
have you been visiting her so often these past two days?" s
He''d assumed that after Liliana''s miscarriage, Finnian would have nothing more to do with her. Buttely Finnian was constantly at her side, as if the two had be inseparable again. Mr. Kevin Everly was livid. s<fn5e29> Readplete version only at findnovel</fn5e29>
Finnian''s expression barely changed. "Yes, I''ve been visiting her. I n to stay by her side from now on."
Those simple words struck Mr. Kevin Everly like a bolt of lightning. He sprang to his feet, his cane trambling as he pointed it at Finnian, "You..you ungrateful boy! What did you just say? You want to stay with that actress forever?" s
"That''s about right."
"You-you''re going to be the death of me!" Mr. Kevin Everly spluttered, beside himself with rage.
He couldn''t believe his own grandson would dare say something so outrageous. If this had happened before, maybe he''d have understood. But didn''t Finnian like Amara now?
Why would he pass up a woman like Amara just to be with that actress he''d always thought was nothing but a fraud?
