Chapter 174

Previously, Kevin had promised that after Grace''s forty-nine days had passed, he would agree to their divorce. At the time, Amara believed him.

But now, it seemed like that was just a stalling tactic from him.

Seriously, who in the 21st century still believed in such superstitions?

So, had she been yed by Kevin all along?

"Don''t worry, Ama. I''ll make sure Finnes around. You two absolutely cannot get divorced! He''ll change, and you both will live happily together," Kevin dered, sping Amara''s hands firmly. His opposition to their divorce was crystal clear. He shot a re at Finnian before leaving the office with Lisa.

Amara stood there, dumbfounded, unsure of what to say.

Finnian approached her. "Grandpa said you didn''t cheat. Is that true?"

Amara''s mind was a whirlwind of confusion.

She had thought thating over to exin things to Finnian would lead to their divorce, but she hadn''t counted on Kevin throwing a wrench in the works.

Trying to steady herself, she gazed up and said, "Yes, it''s true. I didn''t cheat on you. Keith and I were never a thing."

Finnian let out a derisive chuckle, a mocking sound.

Amara lifted her chin. "You don''t believe me?"

"Do you really think I would?"

His expression said it all; he genuinely didn''t believe her. Amara was seething.

"I have work to do. Please leave," he said coldly, turning back to his desk.

Amara wanted to exin further, but he had already shown her the door. There was no reason to linger around. She turned and stormed out, her anger simmering.

On the way back, she still felt exasperated. By the time she reached the film set, she was calmer.

    Reflecting on the morning''s events

    Amara realized it was unlikely

Finnian would ever believe she was

    innocent, especially with that

    recording Liliana had made.

Liliana had secretly recorded their conversation and edited it to make Amara sound guilty, ying it for everyone in the Everly family living room.

Now, everyone except Kevin believed she''d been unfaithful, and there was nothing she could do about it.

At the moment, theplications mounted not just with Finnian, but also with Kevin, who Amara had thought wasn''t expressly stubborn considering the fact that he approved of their divorce, though Kevin had once kept persuading her being reconciled with Finnian,

Today''s incident made Amara realize that Kevin''s previous approval was a mere

plot to gain time and that he hadn''t changed.

Thus, Amara resorted to Elysia''s second suggestion-take drastic action.

After sorting through her thoughts, Amara made a decision and called Keith.

"Pretend to be your boyfriend?" Keith''s voice rose over the phone as he heard her request.

"Yes, I think the Everly family will only let me go if they truly believe I''ve had an affair. I just need to know if this is inconvenient for you."

"No inconvenience at all! Just tell me what you need me to do, and I''m on board!" Keith responded eagerly.

Amara was taken aback by his enthusiasm.

"Why are you so excited? Don''t tell me you''re enjoying the drama. Just remember, I''m not paying you for this!"

Amara had never considered Keith having feelings for her, reckoning he was solely in for the Everly family''s haplessness; she teased him rolling her eyes on the other end.

Keith didn''t bother to exin. He just chuckled and assured her of his support before hanging up.

That evening, Keith returned from an event and headed straight to Amara''s ce.
