Liliana was rushed to the emergency room, and after a thorough examination, the doctor said, "Mrs. Porter caught a chill after falling into the water. She''s pregnant, and it''s quite serious. We need to focus on protecting the baby, so please be patient."
The moment those words came out, everyone''s hearts leapt into their throats.
Liliana''s situation had escted to the point of needing to protect the pregnancy. If the baby was saved, it would be a relief, but what if they couldn''t?
That was the Everly family''s child, after all. If something happened to the baby, what would Finnian do to the film crew? No one dared to imagine.
Amara sat alone on the long bench in the hallway, her hands resting on her knees, her head bowed, and her whole body feeling icy cold.
She had no idea what had happened, but ever since the words "protect the baby" were mentioned, everyone''s eyes had changed when they looked at her.
She knew there had been rumors buzzing around about her, Liliana, and Finnian. Amara was Finnian''s official wife, but he hadpletely ignored her, unting his rtionship with Liliana, and now they even had a child together.
To everyone else, she was just a pathetic andughable abandoned wife.
Now that something had happened to Liliana, and it was during a conversation with her, people didn''t say it out loud, but Amara knew they suspected she had pushed Liliana into the water.
Amara closed her eyes shortly, wrapping her arms tightly around her trembling shoulders.
"Ama, what happened earlier?"
Cedric approached, gently cing a hand on Amara''s shoulder.
Cedric was a kind soul, his face full of concern for Amara, a stark contrast to the others who were just there for the spectacle.
A wave of grievance surged in Amara''s heart, just as she was about to speak, a group of figures rounded the corner of the hallway and walked quickly to the hospital room door.
Leading the group was Finnian himself. He was dressed in cks and a shirt, his hair slightly disheveled, and his face dark with fury. "What happened?"
Cedric had called him when they got on the ambnce, and Finnian rushed over, leaving the documents he had been handling in a hurry.
He nced at the closed hospital room door. "Liliana''s in there?"
"Yes, they''re still working on protecting the pregnancy. Mr. Everly, please try to stay calm," Cedric responded immediately.
Finnian cast a nce at Cedric, and then shifted his gaze to Amara, pausing briefly before looking away.
He asked again what had happened and how Liliana ended up in the
water, but the people who had gathered exchanged nervous nces, each waiting for the other
to speak, but no one dared to say a word.
That was when Liliana''s assistant, Nora, stepped forward, speaking in a low voice, "Liliana was talking to Mrs. Sullivan by the pond at the time. It seemed like Liliana wanted Mrs. Sullivan to make some
changes to the uing scene. I don''t know how their conversation ended, but when I looked, Liliana was already in the water, and Mrs. Sullivan was standing on the bank."
Nora was an exceptionally honest girl, and what she said wasn''t wrong. From her perspective, that was exactly how it had happened, but saying it like that seemed too pointed.
Everyone turned to look at Amara, including Finnian himself. Finnian''s eyes revealed no emotion, but he was clearly not pleased.
Cedric nced between the estranged couple, nudging Amara with his elbow, and whispered, "Ama, you should exin about it, what happened back there?"
Cedricpletely trusted Amara, but now with everyone casting suspicious nces her way, she
seemed Overwhelmed, silent andet
brooding. It was easy for people to jump to conclusions, so Cedric decided to give her a little nudge.
