    She had turned off her phone, just as Avery had instructed her to.


    She was well aware that her sister would soon realize she had left the mansion. The moment that happened, she knew her sister would employ every method at her disposal to scour the city for her, trying to track her phone''s location.


    The lush greenery outside the window blurred into streaks of color as it swiftly receded.


    Evadne''s gaze was deep and unwavering, her slender hands gripping the steering wheel tightly, a frown marring her otherwise serene brow.


    After an hour''s drive, the ck sedan executed a smooth, stylish drift to a stop amidst a vibrant garden within the sanatorium''s grounds.


    Stepping out of the car, Evadne''s long, elegant legs carried her forward as she cautiously surveyed her surroundings, her eyes widening in surprise-


    What astonished her was the fact that this ce was a fully operational sanatorium. There were cars parked around belonging to other visitors, and nothing about the peopleing and going seemed out of the ordinary.


    However, Evadne''s vignce did not wane. With a heart full of apprehension, she made her way through the gates.


    The spacious and bright lobby was adorned with colorful murals, vibrant green nts dotted the area, and caregivers were seen attentively looking after the elderly residents...


    Everything seemed so warm, peaceful, and tranquil.


    "Excuse me, are you Ms. Evadne?" a caregiver approached, asking politely.


    Evadne''s brows furrowed, "How do you know me?"


    "Our sanatorium''s major shareholder, Mr. Chambers, had shown me your photograph before. He asked me to wait here for your arrival. He wants me to take you to meet someone," the caregiver exined frankly.


    "Meet who?"


    "Mr. Chambers'' mother."


    Evadne''s eyes narrowed at the mention.


    "Mr. Chambers mentioned that you and Mrs. Chambers haven''t seen each other


    in a long while. Mrs. Chambers has been missing you terribly and has a lot she wishes to discuss with you. Please, follow me."

    Across the sereneke surface, two swans yed, their necks intertwined in a dance, creating a picturesque scene.


    By theke, a frail yet elegant figure sat in a wheelchair, catching Evadne''s eye. It was Mrs. Chambers.


    Evadne took a deep breath, her steps slowing as she approached the woman, feeling an unexined heaviness in her heart.


    Despite her hatred for Avery, Evadne bore no ill will towards Mrs. Chambers. After all, it wasn''t her fault that the son she bore had be a monstrous demon, devoid of all goodness.


    But this woman, misunderstood and scorned by her husband, and wracked with illness, had indeed suffered enough.


    "Mrs. Chambers," Evadne called out gently as she approached, her eyes lighting up with recognition and empathy.


    Today, Mrs. Chambers was dressed in an elegant, expensive gown, her makeup done with care. Her gray hair, though not dyed, was neatly coiled up, adorned with a jade green hairpin, showcasing the dignity and grace of the once matriarch of the Chambers Group.


    Despite her frail appearance, there was a semnce of the grandeur and beauty that once was.


    Hearing Evadne''s sweet, gentle voice, Mrs. Chambers'' dull eyes moved slightly. But upon seeing Evadne, they lit up as if rejuvenated, sparkling with life:
